Just saw on Channel 21 that he suddenly left Boardmans football team and is transferring to Warren G. Harding!!
I thought the only way to transfer without sitting out a year was to move from one district to another, but this happened way to suddenly for that to be the case.
What's goin on with this? There's got to be more to this story.

I bet Mr. Pollifrone isn't very happy about this.
That's karma for you.
I know Boardman has some linemen, but who will they feature at receiver now? Do they have a running back that they can build around, or get the ball to 20+ times a game?

Boardman went from being 7-2 or 8-2 to 4-6 to 5-5.. 6-4 if there lucky. He was the go to guy. The offence was built around him. The now need to throw out the play book and go back to the drawing board. And that's going to hurt them also now with scrimmages less the a week away there going to be starting all over... I feel bad for Boardman. For one the state needs to change the rules about a lot of things after this season. if not Ohio football will get worse....BTrev;855934 wrote:I bet Mr. Pollifrone isn't very happy about this.

The student only has to sit out a year if they transfer from a public high school to a parochial high school. It's just a way for the OHSAA to shaft the parochial schools. A kid can transfer between public schools, or from a parochial school to a public school, and not miss a beat.lets_go_devils;855925 wrote:http://www.vindy.com/news/2011/aug/08/dayne-hammond-leaving-boardman-football-/?mobile

Boardman was awful in the two games I saw them in last year, Mooney and McKinley. They had NO offense whatsoever, no QB whatsoever. For a school that big, it amazes me that not one player can play QB.

I don't believe this is entirely the case. You have to sit out if you go public to public too unless a) you physically relocate our b) the superintendents sign off on it.

...the only way for Hammond to play at Harding is to move, which apparently his family has done. One issue I don't have an answer to is that Hammond participated "AS A SPARTAN" in a 7 on 7 scrimage recently.
Does that change anything in regards to eligibility....I don't know?
Anyone...?

I highly doubt he is going to be a star in hardings offense. I just see him to being a piece on the team loaded with athletes.

The thing that makes this fishy to me is nobody just practices with one school knowing they're moving. Things like moving from one city to another aren't usually spur of the moment things. People usually plan for these types of things lol. I think the OHSAA needs to really investigate this situation. Things just don't add up.

I agree with lets go and most of you. According to OHSAA bylaw 4-7-2, exception 1, if a parent or legal guardian makes a “bona-fide legal change of residence from one public school district to another school district,” the student will be immediately eligible for athletics at the new school.
The key word Bona-fide legal change of residence,,,,, Also he could have played for the fist two weeks and moved and started for WGH the 3rd week. laws like this is acceptable if investigated before hand,., People use these loopholes all the time..... And i also call Bull S*&T on this,.,

Why would mooney punk out? They just let their little brother "Ursuline" HANDLE the big red in a game that was never close.

Boardman doesn't have a QB? What about Pollifrone? He's the best QB in Mahoning County not named Reardon. He can run the spread, no huddle, he has good size (I'd guess around 6'3" 210), and he has a good arm.
I do think that Boardman is reaping what they sow right now. Mr. Pollifrone now knows what it's like to be abandoned by a teammate that you're really relying on, and building around. I hope he learns from this and matures a bit, and uses this to become a better person and a better leader.
How come when Pollifrone went from Struthers to Boardman, no one seemed to notice, care, or make a fuss... but when Hammond goes from Boardman to Harding, it's an outrage, the rules are flawed, and we need to take action to prevent further travesties like this. Give me a break.
Poor Boardman... hardly. Is it a shame? Of course. No one is innocent here though.
