Karma. Dear Boardman, how does it feel that one of your best players transfers mid-summer?

Interesting. Where does he go from here? He'd most likely have trouble fitting back in at Boardman. The bonds of trust have been broken.

Maybe everyone can put this in the past, and concentrate on football. Would he even still be allowed back at Boardman?

should not be allowed back at Boardman if he is living in Warren. I don't see how they can deny it if he is living in Warren?

WFMJ had it saying that he can go back to BHS but they are not sure if the coaches or players will allow it.

Oh wow lol.. The parents really screwed his future up didn't they.... if his transfer was blocked by the state then he is not playing anyplace but Boardman and i would not see that as a likely thing. Unless the coach at Boardman is a forgiving sole..

Funny thing was that Hammond was on the Harding sideline at the scrimmage today in Solon.

Yeah same i seen it yesterday.. it was not like we was making it up wghfan.. So please if it ended up going through then i do apologize. But as seeing how the Ohsaa does not do any deciding or any school transfer or work or even in on saturday then he was illegally on the field at wgh scrimmage. Also the only time you will ever see any kind of decision from the state is for Playoffs!!! At least that's what i have only seen from them...

Unless somethign happen with the state or Wfmj was wrong then i have no clue.... But i don't think its against the Ahsaa rules to be on the sideline as long as he didn't participate... Wont know much till Monday i would think... I hope for the best for the kid but he should have just stayed put. I mean i'm not a Boardman fan or a wgh fan but kids today just jump ship all the time and the state has been getting a bad rep for this... It hurts the schools and money they get from state to educate the kids. And this excludes sports. A kid leaving the school for just football purposes is in my mind wrong and all it says is the school is not good enough for me education wise and sports wise... The state has to start drawing a line between legit transfers and parents sending kids just for sports and no other reason...

THE CIRCUS CONTINUES

Mixed reports surround Hammond transfer

boardman

According to one news report, standout wide receiver Dayne Hammond’s Warren Harding career is over before it started.

If so, it’s news to his family.

WFMJ-TV reported Saturday that the Ohio High School Athletic Association has rejected Hammond’s transfer from Boardman to Warren Harding. Citing anonymous sources, the station said Hammond will try to go back to Boardman to play, but the coaches and players will decide if he returns to the team.

But Hammond’s mother, Jill Cox, said Saturday that neither she nor Hammond’s father have seen anything official from the OHSAA.

“Not sure where that information came from,” she wrote in an email from Madison, Wis., where she was visiting her older son, Chase, who plays for the Badgers. “Still not sure what the outcome will be.”

Warren Harding coach Rick Rios was also surprised by the report, saying Hammond’s move to Warren has yet to be completed and that the school hasn’t even sent in Hammond’s paperwork to the OHSAA yet.

Hammond declined comment. Boardman coach Mark D’Eramo and athletic director Dave Smercansky did not return calls Saturday seeking comment. Warren Harding athletic director Paul Trina also did not return a call.

Hammond (6-6, 185), who earned first team all-conference and all-district honors last fall, has scholarship offers from Ball State, Toledo and YSU.

OHSAA bylaws allow transfers for “bona fide moves” into new public school districts. In a new rule this year, parents are required to answer additional questions about the nature of the move before gaining approval.

Never understood this line of thinking. Why should you or anyone else be able to tell parents they can't do what they think is best for their kids. Would I send my kid to a school based solely on their football team? No. But that doesn't mean I should tell someone else it's wrong. If the parents feel that a different school is the best way to showcase their child for college scholarships. And as long as it's done within the rules set up, I see no problem with that.

It could be that WGH didn't send in the paperwork yet. But who is to say that Boardman has not slipped a bone to the state????? Hmmm stay tuned for more updates on this brake news story!!! I would think it would be a bigger article by WFMJ if it was truly blocked by the state... Just to make it clear! I am against any kid transferring to another school unless its done properly for eduction purpose. Or job for the parents, new house, not just for sports! And don't think WGH didn't have something to do with the transfer cause if you don't think so you are one blind puppy..!!!

I will say this, Warren Harding was loaded at the WR position before Dayne even decided to transfer. I am not saying Dayne would not help, but it is not a position of need for Harding to go out an recruit. If Harding wanted to bring in recruits it would have been at other positions that we are weaker at.

Yeah i guess. But why would he transfer to a school that has abundant amount of WR? I would not if it was me.. I would have stayed someplace that would have showcased me cause i'm the best on that team. But right now the focus should be on will he play this year or not? I am being truly sincere on this! I never want to see a kid lose a year of eligibility cause of bone headed mistakes. I hope he gets a chance to shine if its at Boardman or WGH..

They would feel that WGH got an unfair advantage going into the season, especially since camp already started. I personally think its b.s and the kid should be allowed to do ehat he pleases.. but oh well.

They can talk all they want, but there's no way the OHSAA was listening. People move at all sorts of different times during the course of a season.
If the OHSAA had a problem with it, it probably goes into something deeper (like whether he actually moved into the district).

I heard his father actually got him an apartment in warren, since he's 18 he can live alone. All hearsay at the moment
