As of last Monday, I have now joined the unemployed. Sucks pretty bad considering we bought our first house in June and our first child is quickly approaching. I was hoping to get some feelers out there on the OC.

I am looking for something in the Supply Chain field (purchasing/buyer, materials mgmt/warehousing, shipping/logistics, etc.) within 45 minutes of Canal Fulton (Akron/Canton area).

I have a B.S. in Management with the major of Supply Chain/Operations management.

My recent job (4 years) was with a purchasing and logistics company that worked with humanitarian aid group and the government. We provided comprehensive supply and logistics solutions for all of their needs, to include but not limited to:

• Active solicitation of bids for both goods and logistics solutions
• Managed bookings of sea freight containers as well as air freight and courier shipments
• Analyzed large amounts of data in order to provide customer with best solution
• Preparation of pro forma invoices, customs documentation and payment invoices
• Preparation of business proposals
• Supervision and training of employees (3 to 4)
• Actively managed multiple accounts and projects
• Performed post-sale research and squeezing to maximize profits
• Managed all client and shipment information on Excel based order management system

As such, any leads that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Even if it is just suggestions of companies to look at.

Thanks ahead of time!

Check some of the gas drilling companies, such as Range Resources, Chesapeake Energy and others. They will be looking for people with logistics and materials mgmt background as they expand in Ohio.

I at least got some interviews. My prospects are going to be looking down when my lease expires and I have to move back to Dayton.

There might be few jobs in Columbus, but there's even less in Dayton.

Smucker's, where I work, is always hiring. They are in Orrville, about a 15-20 minute drive from Canal Fulton. One of the fastest-growing companies in America, recently became a Fortune 500 company, has been in the Fortune Magazine's "Top Companies to Work in the Country" every year since the list's inception, except for one year when they were not eligible because their employment count grew by too high of a %. Check out their openings online:
http://www.smuckers.com/family_company/join_our_company/current_opportunities.aspx

If you end up applying and it asks for a referral, put my name down (Andrew Marcum). I work in IS supporting Supply Chain & Operations, so I know many people in that area.

Good luck in your job search!

Good luck! I'm in the same boat, minus the new house and my little one is already here.

Register and make an account on LinkedIn. I along with a handful of people I know have gotten jobs from there and I recently read an article stating more and more companies are turning to it for new hires.

You can also browse by company and search for openings. Its a really great site. I just blew it off a few years ago when I heard about it but it landed me my current job and I can't say enough about it.

Did you get canned or laid off? If you didn't do anything to be directly canned for, sit back and enjoy the mailbox money for a few months :)

Can't help with job opportunities, but work your ass off ASAP to get a great resume together and apply everywhere. The longer you wait the less likely you can land interviews. Don't sit back and enjoy unemployment.

Good luck.

Ditto that, and add Enervest to the group as well. Also, Timken is ramping up investment in Canton and V&M Star Steel in Youngstown is spending $650 million on a new plant, both for expansion into the Marcellus and Utica gas/oil plays.
