@merrilhoge
Sitting watching tape off bronco offense from last year! Orton or Tebow? It’s embarrassing to think the broncos could win with tebow!!

@merrilhoge
Orton or tebow? QB play is not just about who works hard gives rare rare college speeches or who is a good guy!! Because orton works hard

@merrilhoge
And is a good guy as well. It’s about who can play!! I just watched Tebow throw 5 out routes to a wide open WR! He was 1 for 5! 2 went in

@merrilhoge
Dirt 2 in the stands! That throwing motion he changed? U can’t change who u r! Just watched 2 throws and he throws like he did in college!!

@merrilhoge
College credentials do not transfer to NFL raw raw speeches do not work! You must poses a skill set to play! Tebow struggle with accuracy!

Tebow responded with 'appreciate that' and then King Douche swoops in to save the day...

Orton was already named the starter, I see no reason for Hoge to do that other than to be an attention whore, like most ESPN talking heads are. I'm glad Orton is staying and starting in Denver. Isn't Tebow learning a new offense again, with Josh gone? All the pressure is on Orton who was what, 3-10 last year? Tebow will just keep working. Fox and Elway are a disaster in progress.

Tebow for responded as elegantly and calmly as only he can.
That's some good writing right there. Can ANYONE be a journalist now-a-day? I can't believe how many articles I've read in the past few weeks that have countless spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Orton's record is not indicative of how well he played for the majority of the season. He had 4 rough games, but their defense was the reason they were so bad last year.

I listened to Hodge this morning on Mike & Mike and COMPLETELY agree with what he was saying. He's an NFL talent evaluator and reports what he sees to the public. He saw that Tebow was severely inaccurate, so he said he had awful accuracy. What's the big deal? People want to cry because he was "mean" to Tebow? Boo fuckin hoo

They were talking about this on Mike & Mike this morning and said that Hoge's tweets obviously hit a nerve with Lebron. Being one of the most, if not THE most, hated man in sports, they felt like LBJ was trying to back Tebow since it seems like nobody will back him (Lebron).

So hodge says something that most ppl have thought/said since Tebow was in college and now all of a sudden he's an asshole? What a joke. I'm glad Hodge said it. Where's Gibby to blow tebow?

fwiw.....Kobe backed LeBron a few days ago.

Sounds like Hodge was just trying to stir the pot.

I don't have a large interest in what the talking heads say no matter who it is about. The only thing I would say is that there seems to be something personal in the way Hoge presented it. He gave a fact or two (the number of throws in the dirt, etc.), tossed in a line of analysis pertaining to those facts (Tebow struggles with accuracy), mocked an irrelevant speech twice, and summarized his throwing motion with "U can't change who u r."

If I were looking for information, this doesn't really give me much. I mean, I guess he's assuming we all watched Tebow and already know the nuances of his throwing motion, why it worked in college versus why it won't work in the NFL, what else it takes to be an NFL quarterback. But if we already know all those things, is he really doing a great job of evaluating and reporting?

Is anybody really being a pussy about it, besides LeBron? I haven't seen/read much news in the last few days, but before the Hoge stuff the little bit I caught was:
1) Orton is pretty much burying Tebow and taking most of the 1st team snaps
2) Speculation that Orton was on the trade block, but got his roster bonus so that doesn't seem likely
3) Speculation that there's an actual competition going on, based mostly on the Denver coach's lack of real clarity on the topic
4) Hints that Denver's players won't be real happy if Orton gets the shaft

Sounds more like he's squashing hype than reporting.

Enig, I don't know how to post the podcast, but if you listened to Hodge explain himself this morning on Mike & Mike, you would understand what i was talking about. I don't really remember what he was saying in detail, but he talked for probably about 5 straight minutes about Tebow; he's watched and studied every game he's been in since a junior at UF, including his pro games and any practice tape he could get ahold of. He explained his throwing motion, his lack of accuracy, his "I can do it myself" attitude that will not work in the NFL (as an example he said he had game tape of a game last year in which Denver was in the redzone and Tebow was mic'ed up and went to McDaniels on the sideline and said "no one runs the ball but me".

When I first heard Hodge's tweets and remarks about Tebow I, too, thought it was very harsh. But when I heard him explain it this morning, I changed my perspective. The guy can't just go on air and say "Tebow is a nice guy." He needs to go on air and say what he has seen in his evaluations, and in his opinion, Tebows' accuracy stinks.
