This gentleman with the facial farmer’s tan from hell is Robert Lynn Barker of Leesburg, Florida. Barker, 41, has been charged with child abuse after forcing his teen stepson to do football drills in 90-degree heat, in full gear, while shooting a BB gun in the air as motivation.
Apparently Barker was convinced his stepson needed to improve his conditioning, after being taking a breather during his youth football game, earlier in the day. The boy complained of feeling numb, dizzy and suffering from some side pain, thus the appropriately timed benching.
Once Barker got the boy home, he set up cones about 20 feet apart, got out the old Red Ryder BB gun, and put the boy to work, having him run sprints, shooting the gun to signal the start/stop of each sprint. Barker’s misinformed theory was that his stepson’s pain was the result of poor conditioning, and not playing football in scorching heat and humidity.
A neighbor heard the shots and called the authorities. Cops showed up after the boy had taken a cold shower, and arrested his stepfather. The youngster told police he was afraid his stepdad would end up using the gun on him at some point. Judging by that mugshot, I’d think the same thing of a guy who hasn’t taken his hat off in 30 plus years.
Barker apologized for his misguided actions…

This idiot is wasting O2 on the planet and should be exterminated...anyone disagree?

I'm surprised he hasn't landed a full-time head coaching job yet.

Where was this boy's mother? Unless she knew nothing about it, she's just as guilty as him.

This was my first thought. BB guns make hardly any noise, and certainly no noise that would be alarming to someone.

I agree. You are an embarrassment.

But, the term you were looking for is "Thank you, SVFB. You are my hero". :)

Sad, sad story that is.

We are most likely getting a mere small glimpse at the poor kid's life.

LOL at parents who care that much about running.
