BD, WTF? You haven't seen some movies which I (not as big of a movie buff as you) think are the biggest movies of the year. Put down the shit (Kevin James/Muppets) and watch some gems when they come out. Or am I missing something?

Ha I'm doing my best to see the better movies as well as the lesser movies that may still entertain me. I don't remember why I didn't go see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I remember being intrigued by the preview.

I hope to catch a matinee of Sinister today. So pumped that Bond is just around the corner.

I did watch Argo the other night...thought is was pretty damn interesting. It seemed very slow for the first hour, but once it got going, it was awesome.

+1, that movie is awesome. If you're seeing Kevin James movies over moneyball and GWDT, something is wrong.

I'm curious to see if they make the next two movies for The girl with the dragon tattoo. The first swedish movie was good, but the last two were not spectacular IMHO.

" I don't remember why I didn't go see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Solid movie, I'd give it a definite 3 out of 4 stars. Very well acted (particularly Mara). A bit of a warning, it is very, very graphic at times - I don't think my wife could sit through it. The ending is a bit formulaic and predictable, but otherwise well worth your time.

Ha I don't neccessarily pick to see Kevin James movies over Moneyball and GWtDT. There were reasons I didn't see both at the theater. I just can't remember now. If I go back and see when they were at the theater I could probably tell you to the best of my knowledge. To be fair to myself I have done a pretty good job this year of balancing the better cinematic movies with the lesser movies that may still entertain me.

I'm going to check out Sinister in a bit.

I remember the previews being intriguing but I really don't have a clue as to what it's about so I'm pretty interested to watch it considering the praise it's received. (I fell asleep before watching it last night)

I'm about to give Girl With the Dragon Tattoo a look.
This made me laugh.

I loved the 2nd one. 3rd one wasnt nearly as good though. But yes, Im pretty sure Craig and Mara are both signed on for all 3.

Does that mean they (the studios) have to make them or can they decide there isn't enough money/interest?

edit - I just looked and it seems that it cost $90 million to make and brought in $102 million. For some reason I thought it didn't do as well as they expected. (I freaking loved it)

They can always just not make them. I think its just that they have the rights. Craig and Mara are signed on to do the movie, only if it gets made. Probably something in a contract to get some compensation if it doesnt, but not a full salary.

I would also expect the next one to make a LOT more based on how well it was received post release.

For the record, they have announced Girl Who Played with Fire. So it is at least being made.

Yeah, I just got back actually. I really thought it was interesting and pretty creepy. The ending was pretty predictable and lame, but still one of the better horror movies in the last few years.

Off subject, but my local theater now charges full price for 4 pm start times....the only matinee show is the 2 oclocks. It makes me chuckle that this theater is outdated and more expensive than the nice one in Canton.

I enjoyed it too but I think I still like Indidious better.

I never made it (Dark Shadows) past the previews, wife turned it off after 20 minutes on a plane. We finally saw Moonrise Kingdom last night. Not Rushmore/Tenenbaums good, but still very good in its own way. I recommend it.
