Ha right. So is it worth a 35 mile trip one way to see it?

Yeah I thought so. Its a great movie, that's also a modern silent film. When else are you ever going to see a silent film in theaters? Let alone an oscar winner.

Yeah that's true. It's had my curiosity since it won the Oscar. I just haven't had the chance to go see it until now.

Box office numbers for the weekend so far.

1. Madagascar $35.5 mil
2. Prometheus $20.2
3. Rock Of Ages $15.1
4. Snow White $13.8
5. That's My Boy $13

I'm shocked Rock of Ages didn't do better. I'm not into movies like that but I thought there was a big following.

Like I mentioned, musical, plus cheesy rock music, and the cast Tom Cruise, was a turn off for most people. I don't know anyone that saw it.
Plus, given all the other movies yet to come out, some people may just be picky about which movies they go to.

I'm probably going to check out That's My Boy Tuesday. I didn't expect it to kill at the box office but I assumed it would do better than it did this weekend.

Went and saw Rock of Ages with the gf last night. I don't mind musicals and it was cool to hear many of the songs I grew up with. The story itself is very predictable, and overall I'd give it a C to C-. Although I do gotta say, I think he's a tool, but Tom Cruise isn't bad here.

It isn't a wide release. The film dates are going to be spread out. I've read mostly positive reviews, the worst being that it is Royal Tenenbaums light, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So you are saying it will be more widely released in the near future? I don't really get why some movies are released differently than others.

Royal Tenenbaums was amazing, so I'm sure I'll enjoy Moonrise Kingdom. Wes Anderson is more hit than miss for me.

Also, movie news, the Michael Bay Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has been "shut down indefinitely"

I think it has to do with interest of said movie. Companies may try it out on a limited release then venture out into more markets.

Prometheus sucked donkey balls.
I got in for free and it was still a waste of 2 hrs.

Really, I liked it. I didn't think it fit into the aliens franchise, but thought it was good on its own
