On my way back from lunch, I passed some protesters handing out fliers. Because I love protesters, I stopped and picked up a flier. The headline: "[COMPANY] CARES ABOUT PROFIT!!"
Apparently, the company, a mutual insurance company, hired non-union workers to repair a building. They did this to save money. (As an aside, I have a policy through the company, so if they make a profit, I actually benefit from it.).
Has our world gotten so crazy that now making a profit is a reason to protest? There weren't complaints that they treated people poorly, or exploited anyone, or did anything wrong. Simply that they were trying to make a profit.

It's becoming increasingly clear to me that our politicians aren't stupid, they're just carrying out the will of the people, who happen to be stupid.

Companies that make a profit are despicable. They should take a loss and just get bailed out by the government.

I'm honestly not surprised. People are starting to equate profit with 'hoodwinking' someone to pay more than what something is worth.

They think profit is bad because radical marxists like obama/pelosi/reid tell them so, and they are dumb enough to believe it because our union machine-controlled public education monopoly does not teach them one ounce of business economics.

How dare someone make money in this country!!!!! They should split their profit up, and pass out checks to everyone in the city they are in!!! It is companies like this, that is the reason this country is broke!!

Part of the problem is no amount of taxation is going to halt the class warfare because it's "invisible" when you tax to redistribute...Maybe what we should think about doing is INCREASE the deduction for wages (say below $100k) in this country. My classic economics side doesn't much care for that, but it would provide incentive for companies to hire and increase pay, certainly preferable and more efficient than relying on the govt to redistribute profits. Granted, I'm not sure how that works in practice since 100% of wages & benefits are already deductible, but such issues never got in Washington's way before.

Unions will always have a reason to protest as long as one person in this country has one dime more than another person.

Without profits, who would have any money to pay taxes?
Look, if they want to work for someone who loses trillions of dollars year after year I hear the govt is hiring.

Union protesters have to be among the dumbest sheep ever rounded up. Most don't have a clue what they're protesting -- they just get out there and do it because (1) they've been told to and/or (2) the union is paying them.

Sorry that's not quite the right size . . . but it's a quick picture of their flier. They're very upset that NML cares about profit!

What would be even funnier is if this company had profit sharing

The bottom of it told people to call the CEO and had his contact info, but I figured I'd leave that off. But in substance, yes, that's all it said.
Gut, because they're a mutual insurance company, any profit is redistributed back to policyholders, which is only one step above profit sharing. It's not like some CEO and massive stockholders are getting rich; it's the regular people who have policies through them. Crazy.

Everyone out there needs to watch the movie PCU. These liberal union members need to take up the rallying cry, "We're Not Going to Protest". The world would be a much happier place.

These are probably the same people who think that Obama is a Communist and think that he should be out of office because of it. They can't have it both ways though. Apparently making a profit is a sin and sharing profits is a sin. People need to make up their mind.

Taxes for what? We already spend far more than we could ever collect in taxes. Bailouts get put on the credit card. Luckily the debt ceiling is being raised again.

Now the credit rating agencies know we're serious about our debt . . .

It will be interesting how Obama spins the downgrade now, since just a few days ago if we defaulted it was going to be armageddon that would be a tax on everyone with higher interest rates. Now I'm sure it will be "not really a big deal".

Making a profit:
Welfare / Social Services Entitlements… no production, no cost, no value, no risk, no tax revenue, no growth, no overhead, no employees ….. 100% Pure Profit
So I ask who makes more profit …
Business Owner or Social Service Entitlement Recipients
