The sophmores had to be pretty good to be on the field in a preview scrimmage i guarentee everyone who played in that scrimmage will see time this year.

Each school that participates in a Jamboree is required to pay $250 to the OHSAA which goes directly into the Catastrophic Insurance Fund. The OHSAA insures every junior and senior high athlete for a catastrophic injury. A catastrophic injury is one in which medical bills exceed $25,000. In past years injuries have occurred in football, baseball, swimming and wrestling which ultimately involved quad and paraplegia. The OHSAA provided insurance has assisted the injured players and families with medical expenses, remodeling homes, education and other rehabilitation measures. There is an annual insurance premium to the OHSAA that exceeds $600,000. OHSAA member schools pay no membership fee and no insurance fee.

Jamborees held in 2010 generated more than $70,000 toward the Catastrophic Insurance Fund. The efforts by athletic administrators and coaches is appreciated.

You're probably right on there. That's how BR has so much success, once they've seen enough from their starters, their younger players take the field as they did Thursday night... Seen this time and time again.... I just hope Asher playing his starters until the end doesn't give the CATS false hope... If it did, you may need 9Lives...

ofcourse they want that 250 LOL I wonder where all the money goes .. It sure aint in them lame State title trophies .. I seen better little league trophies than those ... All the money that the OHSAA steals from all the schools should go to hotel lodging at the title games ....or they should atleast put out good playoff programs like they did in the 80's .. Now you have to go to a title game to get a good program .. heck even the 3rd plaoff game's program is like 2 pages and costs a buck or more

Steubenvilles 1s didn't exactly run Struthers off the field either. 14-7 in 24 minutes, or 0-7 in about 17 minutes... however you look at it, I'll take it. A couple of years ago, Steubenville's JVs could've started and put up 21+ on our 1s. It would've gotten very ugly, very fast.

I can't imagine Struthers played all of their starters the entire time, especially if Steubenville had Sophomores in for the final 7 minutes.

Good luck against Morgantown!

You would think after 27 or so years, Big Red fans would know the drill when it comes to scrimmages...or Previews...or Jamborees.

It's like watching the last exhibition game of a NFL team and making a judgement on how their season will be.

I don't fault Struthers for keeping their starters in the whole 2 quarters, they have a new coach, probably a new system, and they need to develop chemistry and confidence.

Its a preview game, so obviously those reserves expected to see some time! They weren't JV back-ups i'd imagine..

Big red Should compete as usual. Will they be on another 50 regular season winning streak again starting this year. Not really. But they will get in the playoffs... There schedule gives them tons of points. The thing that is true is all the area schools have found a way to keep there kids the last 3 or 4 years. not to many have jumped ship and went on to play for Big Red. as a matter of fact some have left Big Red and went back to there schools. This year will be a lot harder on Big red again. But they will not go down without a fight and that will prove to get them back to the show...

Reno plays everyone almost every game. I've seen him put the entire second team in during a tie game, or a one TD game.

That's why Big Red reloads every year...all of the returners have played meaningful minutes.

^^^^^^^^That is a huge reason why Id always send a kid to Big Red ... They all play, everybody gets to have fun ... All the work these kids put in all year and I see so many schools that dont sub or play the backups .. Its nots not fair and its not the smart way ... If you play everybody you get good experiance , You get parents that get on board for you , You have kids that repect you . .... Its just the better and right way of doing things..,..
However I wont get upset if say brooke doest sub in the 4th and we are up by 28 like last year .. Its on them .. I wont judge them .. I just like our system better .. If another team wants to keep there starters in against our reserves .. It wont bother me .. it gives our reserves a better look and better competition .. it is better for big Red in the long run .. Its all a win win win win situation ...for us that is

I keep hearing good things about the defense. not too much about the offense, but every year the offense seems to start off slow. plus worried about the region, this is one of the hardest regions in the state.

Take it for what it's worth.
Previews are just that. Nothing more. Get the cobwebs out and figure if you have the playbook even slightly figured out.

Unlike many team, the dedicated fan base is expecting a perfect season and hopefully a long run in the playoffs. They will settle for nothing less. I don't blame them. It's a pressure cooker, year-in and year-out. always has been.

Reno hasn't been around strictly on looks. The guys knows how to make the most out of the talent that is there. The intense tradition down there also tends to turn the pot up.

Stuenenville has always been winners and they always will. They have a rough schedule, what else? There will be tough games, but I know they'll always give it their best shot.

I wish them the very best.

Who are the receivers and TE's for SHS this season? Who is backing up Pierro at RB?

PS, it's unreal that another football season is only 2 days away. The HS football is the fastest 10 weeks of the year, it seems. Those weeks just fly by. I hate to see summer go as bad as anything, but that's why they invented football; so the end of summer wouldn't suck so bad. Enjoy it football fans b/c it's gonna fly. Unless you're an Indian Creek fan. Then it can't be over fast enough. J/k, j/k.
