I say no. Human element, deal with it. Last night's Pirate/Braves call looks like a terrible call when you watch it 1 million times, but I can understand why the umpire made it.... it looked like an Olé tag.

No, no replay.

HE WAS OUT.....

An umpires job is to not take away from the game.....a 19 inning game is borderline historic (yet typically games of such involve horrid hitting for HR to end the game).....this umpire over-thought it and ended a potentially historic game....who knows when it would've ended but he took the most important element away from a 6 1/2 hour game.

I have no problem with a 5th umpire being upstairs watching the tv to overrule such blatant wrongness.

I see nothing in any of the angles that I have seen that make it conclusive. I think he was out, but I would not bet $$$ on it.

No, no replay.

I hate the "human element" argument. It's basically the same as saying, "Mistakes have been made in the past and doing something to prevent that would be going against tradition, so mistakes will continue to be made!"

You don't end the game on I think he missed him.....you end it on I know he missed him. I don't understand what you guys are looking at on the view from Meals....glove is on pants leg and there is not gap between. He is out and every freaking person in the stadium knew it except the one who called it. Awesome.

Why would one prefer the "human element" for a wrong call as opposed to getting it right?

Have 5th umpire upstairs and let each manager have 2 protest calls.....miss the first one and you lose the 2nd one.

Then why do you end the game on, "I think he got him?" That argument can be made either way.

Yes baseball needs to get replay, for calls around the bases. Remember last year when Armando Galarraga lost his perfect game due to a blown call that was obvious when replayed? Then you have instances like last night occurring more and more often.

They also need to realign the league into two divisions like the NBA so the wildcard spot doesn't automatically go to the second place team in the AL East every year. Then they need to change the rules so both the divisions are playing with the same god damn rules. Either get rid of the DH, or make everyone use one, I don't care either way. I just can't believe that the sport has gone this far without both leagues using the same rules. And then they need to change the way home field is determined in the World Series. Right now it is just a joke. Seriously? Home field is determined by who ever wins an exhibition game where the players are focusing on not getting hurt before winning. REALLY?

Baseball is such a joke right now. Ugh I can't wait for football to get here.

I dont mind replay, but it wont help in this situation and shouldnt be used to tag outs.

there is not one replay angle that shows no gap between the glove and his leg. Meals had a better angle than any camera(which is surprising because most times the umps arent in a good spot) look for the catchers glove to move as he swipes, it doesnt.
