Baseball used to be a huge game of numbers.....steroids has killed it a good bit. But stat freaks llke me still appreciate huge career numbers....even those slightly inflated.
Today Arod turns 36....Here are his career rankings for all stats in MLB history before turning 36:
Games...........2383 (5th)
AB.................9131 (6th)
Runs.............1810 (2nd)
Hits...............2762 (8th)
HR................626 (1st)
RBI...............1883 (2nd)
K..................1903 (3rd)
Total Bases....5191 (2nd)
Xtra base hit..1148 (3rd)
Mostly the only guys in front of him were Gehrig, sometimes Aaron and Ruth...mostly it
Where might he finish? Well you know he's going to try and pass 762 HR as he gets HUGE payouts for every person he passes on the HR list and of course...you want ot be #1. So I'll guess using his HR numbers. End of this year 635 HR, end of 2012 666 HR, end of 2013 695 HR, end of 2014 722 HR, end of 2015 748, end of 2016 765. IF he plays that long....and yes it might be a bit of a stretch....but that will put him at 41...not that crazy. I included many injuries and old age decline and PT.
Games......3035
AB............11050
Runs.........2170
Hits...........3430
Doubles.....605
HR............765
RBI...........2240
SB............330
BB............1400
K..............2500
Wish he never would've done the steroids , whatever years he did ( I think he claimed a 2 or 3 year period while on the Rangers)....numbers still would've been historically high and I have a zillion of his baseball cards....plus I like huge career numbers.....but yes......****, just how much is to each their own and I can't argue it. But whenever anyone asks me the best players of my lifetime.....he's getting mentioned every time.
