Try not being an OSU hater for once and reread. He makes some very valid points.

Who cares? The writers didn't affect the NCAA's opinion, or the punishments they have/will hand down, and they won't affect what happens on the field this season.

As an OSU fan and alum, I'm excited to put the whole situation behind us, ASAP. Whining about what people wrote doesn't serve any purpose.

As for the O-Zone writer, it's tough to take him seriously when he rails against writing for the purpose of generating traffic, when the website he works for is an extreme example of such pandering.

Calling out media who have deliberately ignored their own ethics, standards and principles in the pursuit of a story is not whining.

The only check and balance with the media is the public that supports them. That's it. They don't have a society that can pull their license if they commit what amounts to malpractice.

It's just us, as consumers, who are the check against putting out a bad product -- on purpose -- for the fraudulent purpose of increasing business (on one hand) and/or the carrying out of a personal agenda on the other.

That someone in the field actually called them out is unusual in this profession. In fact, it's more than unusual, it just doesn't happen -- ever.

If you think they only did it for traffic, I think you probably don't know the individuals involved in the web site. They carry themselves with more journalistic professionalism and integrity than SI, ESPN, Yahoo, the Dispatch and Channel 10 combined.

I don't know the people who run ESPN either. But the O-Zone is nothing more than a website pandering and catering to OSU fans. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it by no means indicated they're bad people. In fact, I'm sure they're great guys. But they're not some source of journalistic integrity anymore than jjhuddle is. And a rambling(and pro-OSU, pro-Tressel) blog post by one of their staff writers doesn't change that.

A lot of reports were issued on the entire OSU situation. Some right, some wrong. Did some reporters act unprofessional? Yes. Was it malicious in nature? I'm not so sure. Regardless, Tressel is rightfully fired, Pryor is rightfully gone, and the NCAA has their findings. Nothing has or will change any of that.

OSU has no one to blame but themselves for the situation they were put in, and the sooner the university and its' fans move past it the better.

the bottom line here is osu cheated and got caught. and now they dont like anyone reporting it. the author would like you to believe its all some media conspiracy

I dont dont think he has a problem as long as the media reports facts, its the rumors and hearsay that he has a problem with.

Ohio State football has a long history of success and tradition. These "journalists" zeroed in on this situation as an opportunity to put their name in the sports headlines...to gain notoriety even if it meant mushrooming the truth to get there.

While it is true that Tress screwed up and the Tattooed 5 were idiots, there's no denying the media opportunism in this whole stupid affair.

Now that their efforts to bring down one of the most storied programs in college football history has all but fizzled, it's more than fair to turn the tables even if it comes from a pro-Ohio State blog.

If you had a bias towards one program, would you not hire former players of that program? Herbstreit, Smith, Spielman, Carter...

Or those guys just may have been the best candidates at the time. Some of them, like Spielman, started out as lower level announcers and worked their way up.

I'm betting the hiring of talent is done by a whole different area of the company than those making day to day editorial decisions.

Plus the article deals with more than just ESPiN. It talks about a lot of different reporters from different sites.
