Niles - Should have a better year improved late last season
Poland - Losing patton is key but should be in the hunt for the red tier
Canfield - Not the canfield were accustomed to but should be a good team with a winning record
Beaver Local - Returning alot of starters including their stud LB frolm last season
Howland - One of the best RB's in the state my pic to win the Red Tier

Struthers - Loses Brooks but returns alot from last yr, Should get at least 6 wins with their schedule
Hubbard - Loses Their complete backfield minus maybe one or two kids, they always reload tho
Lakeview - Franco always puts them in position to win along with great coaching
Liberty - Been ugly the last couple years hopefully they can start good with east on the schedule

Campbell - great runningback loses alot but should win blue tier and make a playoff run
Labrae - Young team last yr but if they matured they should get a win or two more.
Newton Falls - Not really familier with what they got going on over there this season.
Champion - Loses a great backfield for how small their school is... Also unfamilier with this season
Girard - should give campbell a run for the blue tier winner of that game gets the nod in the blue

5.Beaver local-another year under the belt for there juniors should prove to be a better team in 2012 but not this year.

White
1. Lakeview they are still loaded probably the 2nd best team out of all the AAC teams combined.
2. Struthers- call me crazy but they will shock teams this year! A good coach for once and a team that is determined will prevail. i say -6-4
3.Hubbard there always good- But they have to play lakeview and a much better coached Struthers team. toss up here between 2nd and 3rd with struthers!
4.Liberty i'm not sure about them they seem to bounce back every two years. Have not heard anything about them. if there good they can take Hubbard and struthers. going by the last few years.

Blue Tier
1.Campbell is loaded with talent and speed and size. there defense from everything i hear will be there strengths and if true this could be the best devils team since 90-91 Ja'les Hughes is back and girard could not stop him last year. a repeat.
2.Girard is got a lot of holes to fill loosing there top receiver and best threat at wide out. There QB will be key for there success this season. they will give the devils a fight for the blue. secretly becoming a rival like JFK in the 80's
3.Labrea i hear will be a better team this year. but i don't think they have enough to overtake girard or Campbell
4.Champion lost the whole backfield. Not gonna be good for them this year.
5.Newton falls lost some key players also in the backfield will be hard to compete this year.

This is my take on the AAC. now this could change when i see the full preview after the scrimmage's.

Best games to catch this year will be the Poland Howland game and as always the Struthers Campbell game.<--------- this game dont mean anything but a W or a L. But to the Struthers and Campbell Community its more then that. The Steel helmet is up for grabs again.

It's nice to make these predictions, especially when one can list his or her favorite team at the top. But let's keep in mind that alot can happen between the time predictions are made and the start and finish of the regular season. I prefer not to make predictions because the players and coaches often read these forums. The last thing I want to do is to get into the players heads telling them how good or bad the team they play on is going to be. Therefore, I consider the upcoming AAC season races as wide open. Each team has a lot of work to put in. Just my opinion fellas.

With Liberty losing perdue i dont see much out of them this year but hey who knows.

I didn't say a word about any of the teams. I think that considering who they have returning, Howland, Lakeview, and Campbell have to be the favorites. Upsets happen though, and no one is unbeatable.

As the ssssssssssssssssaying goes, that's why they play the game...

BTrev, I did not mean you specifically. And you are right: let's see what happens when the kids line up for real.

I swear i did not mean any disrespect to any team. I have watched the previews and they pritty much already make the own predictions in a sorta way. This is my feeling as one individual.... Its in my mind no different when each week we all sit and say this is why my team will win and this and that.
Almost like what we do for each week EX Week 4 Liberty VS Lakeview. whats you thoughts. and then we start the discussion and sometimes fights. If i was coach i would be like hey they think we cant win the div then so be it will show them. You know more then me and anyone. i have attended almost every game since i was what i think 8 years old. 30 years of Campbell football. My father knew Knapick for years! I never got to meet him. But i don't know half as much as you. i do know a lot. There was times i thought i knew everything about the 89 team till i watched the whole season again. i was wrong. i thought Toby Walker hurt his knee in that season. and i could have sworn it was a game at Salem. could have been the 88 season. For some reason i remember someone pulling out a lawn chair recliner and that player was watching the game on it on the side line. But i'm probably wrong. Do you happen to remember anything like that?

We really have NO IDEA how close that may have been to happening last season. Mr. Brooks wasn't happy AT ALL early on because of a suspension he says was BS. He made quite a few statements about crossing the bridge.

Also, in my opinion, Ja'Les can thank 2 specific things for his record-breaking season.

1.) his offensive lineman
2.) Skevo's knee injury.

The majority of Campbell's playbook was structured around Skev's ability to change the game from just about any spot on the field.

Trust me, the reason that week 3 Liberty game was so close was because our coaches basically had to implement an entire new playbook.

Toby broke his leg during the 1988 season.

I agree. But I would add the blocking of John Sikora to his offensive lineman as the key to Ja'les having such a great year last season. I remember that Liberty game. It was a close one and the first full game without Skevo.

If he had gone to Campbell, Struthers likely would've finished with the same record. Although, their wins probably would've been a lot closer, and their losses probably would've been more lopsided.

Two of their four wins, Liberty and Conneaut, were blowouts. His absence likely wouldn't have played much of a role in those games. They pitched a shutout against LaBrae. The only game you can really ponder whether or not they would've won, is Beaver Local.

I just think that Tommy, Maillis, and Kunzer would've carried the ball a lot more, along with Auman.

Will see how the season goes this year. I still think there is some good blocking gonna happen for Ja'les. There is way to many weapons at Campbell disposal in the backfield if need be!

It may have been the Salem game. I'll have to check Patton's yardage in '88 compared to '89. I gather you are referring to regular season yardage only. In 1988 Campbell played a total 11 games including playoff games, losing to Mooney in overtime in the first round. In '89 Campbell played a total of 14 games including playoffs.

Yeah dean just the regular season... i know he had over 3000 thousand yards total for his career. and had something like 30 td's for the whole 89 season.

I agree with you again. Especially against Girard and Hubbard. 15-20 carries a game... more if needed. Jermayne proved to be instant offense more than a few times. Auman, TK, and Maillis could've all chipped in with 5-7 carries each.

Saunders got a lot of crap, but the OC let them down more times than the defense did last year. The defense played extremely well against Girard (Girard had 36 rushes for 72 yards... Jermayne only had 5 carries.), East Liverpool (considering all the turnovers they had, and up until the final minute... EL had probably around 35-40 rushes, for around 55 yards. They ran the reverse to Jermayne on 1st and 10 in the 2nd OT... they'd been showing it the whole game, and it lost like 10 yards.), and Hubbard (Mayhew shut Novotny down... Duvalle broke an 80 yard TD in the first quarter, and Hubbard finished with 88 yards rushing.). Those three games were decided by 7 points or less. Also, in the Campbell game... Jermayne had a 95 yard TD run. It was called back on a false start. It was BS. Not because they called the penalty, but because the ref waited until Jermayne was standing in the endzone to blow the whistle. That's a dead ball penalty, and Jermayne should have never made it out of the backfield. Regardless, they didn't run that play again the rest of the game. They ran it once after, but to the opposite side of the field. Even though they scored 259 points this past year, that number could've been up over 300.

Anyway... I hope Asher runs the Speed Option a bit this year. It'd be an excellent way to get TK and Kunzer out on the edge. They ran some option plays last year, but they were always Read Option plays with TK and Auman or Maillis out of the Pistol. Imagine if they had run the Speed Option last year, with TK and Brooks...

option out of the spread with either runningback this year could be deadly as it was last yr at times. With Tommy putting on 20 pounds of muscle thngs are only looking up

Patton rushed for 3,429 yards on a total of 592 carries, scoring 45 touchdowns, playing in a total of 34 games. In 1988 he missed one game and played sparingly in three others due to an ankle injury. Perhaps Patton's worst game in three seasons was the 1989 championship game vs. Ironton, where he was held to 55 yards rushing on 20 carries. But he did play most of that game with a broken nose he suffered in the first quarter. Cardinal Mooney also contained Patton in the first round playoff game in 1989, limiting Shawn to 56 yards on 20 carries. But Patton did some damage in that game catching the ball out of the backfield, and was on the receiving end of a touchdown pass that put that game away for Campbell. From my perspective, Shawn Patton is the best running back to ever play at Campbell Memorial.

Last season Ja'les rushed for 1,601 yards on 231 carries as a junior. I believe he rushed for around 380 yards as a sophomore.

Ja"les will have to have one hell of a season to surpass Patton in career rushing. Ja'les didn't play much in his Sophomore year. Ja'les will need some real nice blocking and some luck to surpass Patton all time rushing record. but very much doubt he will even get close to his touchdown count. And yes Patton is the best back to come out of Campbell then Deland Mccullough!! Ja'les, Adams, Johnson, Wright!! It will depend how he responds without Sikora making them holes like he did last year. If he repeats this season the same thing!! Then he can sit next to Patton...

And even if he did you have to still give Patton the edge cause they played in a area in div 3 that was just sick with talent and size and some of the best coaching!!! I really believe that After he broke his nose in the Ironton state game he could not see like he did. I had a Broken nose twice and within a few minutes your eyes start to water and then your vision is half of what it was. Then your breathing out your mouth,,,, Hard to recover in a week no less in a few minutes.
