Reading SI the other day and it had a bit article about Jeter and 3000. it had some nice charts and showed the other 3000 hit club.

They had Ty Cobb at 4189. I remember during the Pete Rose chase he had to get 4192 to surpass Mr Cobb.

What happened?

People are really bored....went back and probably found a couple of times over his 13000 plate appearances where he was walked and they gave him hits in the box score.

Over the years Jimmie Foxx and Lou Gehrig have gained a couple of RBI

I believe I read somewhere that some stat geek found two box scores where Cobb had hits counted twice.

I think it's safe to assume that no one on the planet would consider Mr 3000 a classic.

Reggie Patterson.
Cubs

STeve trout was supposed to pitch that game but hurt himself in a bicycle incident. Rose usually had Doggie Perez play first against lefties but with the change he started in the game.
