Its a CNN type channel, so Im sure they played his tapes. Not like they sent camera operators to film him giving his speeches though.

Seriously though, I want NBC, ABC, ESPN, FSC, and other channels to all get blocks of the EPL so we can see every game every weekend!

Exactly. Maybe have Disney, Murdoch and GE (or is it Comcast now with NBC?) decide that they need to get into soccer now as its growing, but decide it would benefit ALL of them to split the rights. Disney probably has the most $$$ to throw around, so maybe have them get more of the "marquee" matches throughout the year, then probably FOX with the second tier and NBC 3rd tier. They could each have weeks where they get the biggest, and they can split the ManU-Chelsea type games into like 45-35-20...ABC-Fox-NBC.

It would do nothing but help all of them to get together and jointly bid for the rights in this manner.

Honestly, I enjoy watching every single EPL game, I really don't care who gets which games :)

Neither do I, but you better believe the networks do:D

We wont ever get all the game if they dont air them on multiple networks though. Even then, we still will have to settle for tape delay on a few.

That's right. The one and only FOX has it! Nice that it's on a main station. It'll be at 2:45pm ET.

I'm going to be starting my day off right with the Heineken Cup Final followed by the CL Final at the bar. Should be a great day of European championships

Also on Saturday, the last spot for the 2012-2013 EPL season will be for grabs between West Ham and Blackpool. Rooting for the Tangerines here; I enjoyed them last year, and I would definitely like to see them up again.

Ok, so I am new to this sport as I've said before. I see where Chelsea plays in the Premier League, so how come they are playing in the CL final on Saturday? How does a team that plays in one league gets to play for a championship in another league?

EPL is the top league in England. Champions League is made up of top teams from leagues all over Europe. Top 4 in EPL qualify for the Champions League. Chelsea finished top 4 last season, thats why they are playing in it this year.

Champions League isnt a league really. Its a tournament. You qualify based on where you finish the season before. It includes most if not all of Europe. So you win your domestic league (for instance, the MLS if it was in Europe) you qualify, thats where the "champions" part comes into play.

But the best leagues in Europe get multiple teams, while most just have their league champion make it. Here is a good breakdown for trying to figure out who qualifies, because it is recently update with how teams made it.

Yeah, what pick6 said. Also, to add on to him, top 4 in EPL move on to the next years Champions League. So this game is huge for the division. I personally love Tottenham, and they are sitting at 4th right now in the EPL. If Chelsea win vs Bayern, then they get the 4th spot in the EPL. If they lose, then Tottenham get's the 4th spot.

Is this because the CL winner gets an automatic entry into the next one?

Thanks for asking those questions, sportsfan24. I'm kind of a soccer n00b too. The last couple World Cup tourneys (men's and women's) got me more and more interested. Prior to that the only soccer that I had really watched was the USA-China Women's World Cup Final back in '99. Now I watch it as often as possible.

That's right. If Chelsea (6th place in the EPL) wins, they take one of the EPL spots that would normally be given to a top-4 finisher. Right now that's Tottenham (in 4th place). So, if you're a Spurs fan, you're rooting like hell for Bayern on Saturday. Teams that make the CL get a metric shit ton of money.

Not to nitpick, but the top 3 in the English Premier League automatically qualify, the 4th team is in a "playoff" for withe others to get into the Champions League.

If you didn't go to the wikipedia page about the Champions League, it's the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). There are 53 (I think) members of UEFA. So, each domestic league has at least one representative in the Champions League. Other leagues have multiple representatives in -- like the English Premier League getting 3 guarantees and a fourth in a playoff. There are 77 total teams in the Champions League getting narrowed down to 32 teams in group play -- where they have a draw and have Group A, Group B, and so on.

The MLS is in a Champions League, it's the CONCACAF Champions League though. It's not as popular and not as promoted -- for obvious reasons. I wish it were televised and more important...but it won't be anytime soon. The CONCACAF and UEFA are also for the federations that deal with their international teams. The USMNT has CONCACAF qualifiers to earn their federation's spot(s) in the World Cup.
