Cueto in really good shape with just 63 pitches thru 6. That ought to be enough to get at least to the closer, the current weakest link.

Rolen is 2 for 2, and now a chance at an RBI with one out and runner on 3rd. But his favorite pitcher Westbrook is gone, and also a favorable lefty for him now leaves. Will be a good challenge for Scott.

Walters didn't make it tough at all on Scott, giving a 4 pitch walk to bring Lewis up against the righty with the bases loaded and 1 out. Lewis Ks on a perfect pitch called strike 3 just barely on the low inside corner. the pitch that hurt Lewis most was the strike call on the first pitch that was significantly outside. Reds cannot score runs with RISP, only solo HRs. Hopefully that will be enough! Cards bring in a righty to face Rolen and he walks him, and the Reds can't take an iota of advantage from that!

Come on Fred, you need to catch that to get the lead-off hitter out!

Freddy not looking good tonight. You know Dusty will play Stubbs tomorrow, hopefully Heisey is in left.

Yes, and Cueto is next, so you are going to get a much better pitch to hit than that as he's not going to walk you to get to Cueto since it'll walk in a run.

The critical part of defense! Let down a little and make a bad play and let a fly drop, and it sparks bases loaded and no out! Makes it much tougher on the pitcher once the tying run comes to the plate!

The bobble by Rolen costs him knocking down the tying run at home.

BP so enthralled in thought on how he could have made a better play when he just got the one out at first earlier in the inning and neglects to make the play for the 3rd out in the inning. He could have charged harder and collided with the runner trying to get to the ball and make the play.

This game is a prime example of a team severely underplaying their potential.

One error in the 7th for the Reds, and 3 plays that could easily have been more effective(Lewis, Phillips, Rolen).
Now the Cards pitching and defense put the Reds right back in the game in the bottom of the 7th with a walk, and an error which gives an extra out plus one extra base.

Miller finally gets his lefty out, but on his 3rd batter faced after allowing the first two to reach base! The iedeal here for the Reds is for Lewis to face a righty this inning to clear his spot so the new pitcher can go in to his #7 spot and leave the other three better defending outfielders in the game to defend the lead.

Rolen's DP hurts bad as it ends the inning, doesn't score an insurance run, and deprives Lewis of an opportunity for a key AB!

I guess it confirms the LaRussa strategy of intentionaly walking the bases loaded with no outs was solid!

So for the 2nd time tonight, Reds pitchers trying to protect a one run lead, walk the lead-off batter!

The Reds may be better off not getting it to the 9th with a small lead for Coco. Their best shot may be to try to win it in the bottom of the 9th!

This team is a joke, they are just not good. The manager sucks, the pitching coach sucks, the hitting coach sucks, the GM sucks.

I wonder if Rolen hurt his shoulder swinging at that riding high 97 mph fastball by Motte in his last AB.
