I am possibly the only person on this message board who hasn't watched the Harry Potter movies. So with the last one of the series coming out Friday I decided to start watching of the movies so I could go check it out the finale at the theater. So far I find the movies entertaining but still falls behind Lord of the Rings for me in the fantasy movie genre. What say you?

I haven't ever watched one. Probably not even a second of one.
My wife owns them. She has already purchased a ticket (along with 2 of her friends) to view it tomorrow night.
I believe I'll be leaving her if she goes...

I've seen a few, but with the phenomena of the books, I felt that I could not get into the movies, having not read teh books.

Love the books, love the movies.
For the OP, I don't compare them at all to the LOTR series. One, it'd lose (films at least) and two, I don't think they're very similar.

Haven't seen the last one, but of the films I'd rank them:
2
4
5
3
1
6
They are fine fantasy books for kids, anything to get them reading is a good thing.

Still have never watched more than two minutes of the movies. But, to be fair, I haven't watched more than two minutes of LOTR, either.

Put me in this category too.
I am still less than 30 seconds of viewing of the LOTR movies.

What's your favorite?
I enjoyed Chris Columbus' direction, he made it seem like a fantasy film for kids. Past 2 the themes were more mature and didn't always work. Although I'm glad kids read the books, Voldemort is a terrible villain - the less he's involved the better.

Honestly I think they've gotten better with each one. Much like the books.

Really, I haven't seen the first part of the 7th one but I fell asleep twice while watching the 6th one. I'm still not sure how it ended (other than Dumbledore dying).

Might be an age thing. I am pretty much the target demographic for these films (IE, books were coming out when I was a kid).

I've never seen any of the movies or read any of the books. Same with Twilight.
I also haven't seen the LOTR movies.

Is emma watson old enough to show her tits yet, because that would make this series even better.

I agree. The transition from kids to adults fighting for humanity is fun to watch.I Wear Pants;829756 wrote:Honestly I think they've gotten better with each one. Much like the books.

Why do you think this? It's still more or less a children's book, so it's not like they can have him him slicing people in half with charms lol. I'm curious as to why you think he's a "terrible" villain.

Get more sleep then, lol. The 6th movie is great.

Google is your friend. Although you will not see any boobies, just scandelous pictures that do the trick.

I've watched them all, except the final chapter. Probably won't see that one until it comes out on Blu Ray. But I've enjoyed them all.
I've also watched all of the LOTR movies, and I'd definitely say that those are waaayyy better. However, it's a different audience. HP started as a children's story...and it really shows in the first few movies. Fortunately, the movies get increasingly "mature" as the series goes on.

I have seen them all and I'm going at midnight tonight to see the last one. I love to watch all the freaks come out and see how they get into it.

I've seen and own everyone of the movies... while they do not do the books justice I still enjoy them the same. As for the movies just based on the movies I will agree that they have gotten better with each one but compared to the books and everything else here is how I would rank them. 3, 5, 2, 1, 6, 4.
Raw Dog shes been old enough since the 6th one... personally I like Bonnie Wright(she plays Ginny) better than Emma.
FatHobbit I dressed up for the 6th one but it was nothing crazy. If you really want to see some freaky shit go to the midnight showings of the twilight movies lol.

I'm not so much comparing it to the LOTR series as saying that I enjoyed the LOTR series more. I throw movies into categories when I speak of them. Both series fall into the fantasy genre that is why I made the comment. I hear that the HP movies get much better as the series rolls on so I am anticipating that. So did I read it correctly that Voldemort is a terrible villain? I was looking forward to seeing more of him.

I still don't know how you go all of this time without watching LOTR or Harry Potter. I watched all 3 LOTR at the theater.
