There are legitimate sites that sell 3rd party diamonds. Bluenile.com rings a bell but I'm not sure.

I bought wife's engagement ring in Jamaica and really bartered. I got back and it appraised for 150% of what I paid and I asked if the appraised price is what I could sell it for. Appraiser said you can usually sell it for 2/3 of appraised amount.

Good to know. Taking it to get appraised after work today.
