Honestly, they bought JJ correct? I don't think Bucknuts wanted to support two sites, especially if they ended JJ they could possibly get more traffic and business on Bucknuts.

But they're 2 different things, HS sports vs. an OSU board.

It's not like JJ's CFB forum was singlehandedly hurting Bucknuts traffic (and at this point who cares, they own both). If that were the case, wouldn't they just axe the CFB forum and tell everyone to go to Bucknuts for that?

If two sites is the issue, why not integrate HS stuff into the bucknuts.com site to get it on one site?

If it happens I'll have a "damn!" moment for sure. We all talk shit based on how it ended, but I'll never forget it. This place is nothing compared to what JJ once was--although I think it can be and clearly I don't expect it to be this early. But that was a great forum in it's day. But I won't lose any sleep over it--I'd rather be here after the bullshit they tried to pull anyways.

^^^Well said. a lot of us old-timer JJ Huddlers would agree.

That's what I would thin they'll do imo.

As would I. As Overdrive, I had a great time on there until I got gonged for a pathetic reason due to the site being deluged by a ton of rules (written and unwritten) combined with a handful of the mod/admin types being in pure zero-tolerance mode. For a good while, that place was a fun community for conversation where you felt you knew people personally even if you'd never met them anywhere but on the site. Part of what changed that was simply the growth — the more people you have, the less intimate a place will be. But most of it, to me, was just one bad decision after another by the powers that be.

I am now able to log-in under my once banned name. IP is unblocked and all. Able to access all sites too.

Anyone else?

Edit: Never mind. For some reason it automatically signed me in under "Society" and goes to the forum page, but when I try to go to a thread it then gives me the ban message. Weird.

After I read your post, I went over and tried......no such luck. I still only have access to the free forums.

Same here. I'm no longer IP'd at home and can sign in as at least Heretic, but can't do anything after that. Looks like desperation is setting in for them in the "Okay, okay, c'mon back.....no matter what you did to get kicked off....please?" sort of way.

caveat emptor.
Eh, if Bucknuts media, who owns JJhuddle, is still in business you can just file a complaint with the Ohio AG to get your money back. If the case would be in your favor, they will pursue legal action on your behalf.

I believe it and I believe they knew exactly what they were doing going to the charge. They figured they could milk a little bit out of a lot of people and put it against old debt when they closed shop. What they were charging was never going to keep the site running, but might as well get what you can before killing it. The fees they did collect was bonus money and everything else that transpired was inconsequential. ####ers.

I was a sucker and paid the $12. Last week I started a thread "What I COULD have bought for $12" and posted a picture of and 18 pack of Bud Light. I got on later and it had been removed. Tried 2 more times and they were both removed. I sent an email asking why the thread was removed and what kind of "dictatorship" was JJHuddle now under. I have not gotten a response.

They only respond to e-mails if they can make you bleed in the response.

Do you think that the "subscribe and we'll help this charity" was a true scam to get money then? I mean, if they planned to axe the site, then I just see that as lower than how it originally came across in the first place. Despicable.

That's why I don't think it was a scam, but rather a failed business plan. I could be wrong.

I don't think it was a scam, I think shutting down Dec. 31st is how they could afford to do it.

I think Society is dead-on right ( ^ listens to the sound of the Earth grinding to a halt on its axis :))

The recent series of sudden, sharp changes in business practice, coupled with the departure of key leadership, is almost always a clear indication of impending financial doom.

One thing that doesn't make it look like the plan is the pay by the year instead of month to month.

Seems they'd go with the November "strike 1", December "strike 2", January "Out" sorta plan.

wow... place is in dire straights... looks like this could be an example for an economics class about how to not piss off your customer base
