The defense was atrocious when we went up a goal each time. I have no idea why they stopped attacking as much on O when up a goal. We were dominating Japan with pressure and a good offense, when we tried to rely on defense we looked terrible.
Should have won the game in regulation and then again in OT.
The PK's were a choke job. I told my girlfriend the first one was going to get blocked. She didn't look confident. And neither did the 3rd girl.

I guess you could call it growth...but most Americans (including myself) won't give a fuck until the World Cup comes around next. What they do between then and now is not relevant to anyone.
Even if the girls team had won, a week from now most wouldn't give a shit.

Damn...tough pill to swallow. I was only able to watch the ET and PKs. That equalizer was a fucking dagger and then US flat out fucked up the first few penalties. No confidence at all.
I kinda wrote off Japan and really didn't think they had a shot to win. Hats off to them....they could have folded when we went up in the extra time.
I still don't understand why people STILL feel the need to say "no one gives a shit about soccer." Especially in soccer thread. If you don't like it...thats fine, just please STFU and let us who do enjoy it.

Yeah, the real growing sport is cross country. I'm still not sure why Rapinoe was subbed out, as she seemed to be the spark plug on this team. I'm also not sure why Shannon Boxx was taking a PK, she damn near had 3 PK's stopped this year. Aiming for the same spot makes for an easy save for someone that has tape on you.
First thing I learned in organized soccer, DO NOT CROSS THE BALL IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN GOAL. I'm not sure why the defender thought the best idea was to try to clear the ball across the goal...just clear the damn thing.

This. There are a lot of fat out of shape people who join CC and never see legit competition. They just go to practice and half ass their run. They are pretty much joining a team to get exercise.
