So my brother and his kids have decided to go to the Akron Zoo tomorrow and I was curious to know how good it is? I've never been there and I was checking out the website and I clicked on animals and they don't have pics of the usual zoo animals. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't been there in YEARS, but unless it has changed, it's more of a glorified petting zoo than anything.

I may be wrong now, but if I am I'm sure someone will correct me.

Took the kids there last summer. My first trip, and last. Not impressed.

I will spend the extra money and go to Cleveland, next time.

And Cleveland isn't terribly expensive either ($11, Akron apparently charges $10 according to their site). I went there back in June. Worth the extra drive and trip.

Right. We only went to the Akron zoo, because it was a "on the whim" kinda thing.

Yeah, the website doesn't even have pics of the big animals (elephants, rhinos, hippos etc).

Because the Akron Zoo does not have them. They have a couple Tigers, but they slept the whole time. LOL I think they have A Lion.

Wow that is hardly worth the price of admission then. We live about 50 miles away. I would hate for them to drive there to not see the big time animals.

They have been to Toledo, Cleveland, and Columbus. They just wanted to try out Akron and Cincy also.

San Diego is pretty legit. That was a highlight of that trip.

Also nice are Columbus and Cleveland.

Pittsburgh's is pretty good too and has that fun escalator ride.

Toronto's is nice but it is very, very, spread out. Like it seems like there's a mile in between every exhibit.

Cleveland is the 2nd best zoo in Ohio. It's pretty good, just went back in early June. Way better than it was 2 years ago.

Toledo is ok, not quite as much or as big as Clevelands. Akrons sucked when we went a few years ago.

Columbus is legit though. I saw that it passed SD as the #1 Zoo as somebody else just mentioned in the thread.

I like Toldeo. I haven't been to Cleveland's in years. I have yet to make it to C-bus or Cincy.

Come on man. Mention me by name. I'm trying to get my OC rep up.

I think Akron is actually called a children's zoo, it is great for ages 2-8.

IMHO, we like this order:
1) Toledo
2) Columbus
3) Cleveland
4) Cincinnati
5) Akron

I can't see how a zoo like that even stays open. Most kids I have ever been around want to see rhinos, hippopotami, and elephants over the kind at the Akron Zoo.

Fall for what chief? I'm not going for one thing and it's not obvious. It doesn't say children's zoo on the website. So I suppose this would be a fail for you.
