The best regular season record means absolutely nothing. The two teams who have been the most consistent at making the finals recently (Lakers and Celtics) are the two teams who put the least stock in the regular season. Both teams routinely sit players or sandbag for stretches of the regular seasonThe heat were the favorite to win the championship after knocking off a dismantled Boston team.
Okay....and I had said that just because the Cavs had the best record two years in a row didn't mean that they were the best team in the NBA those two seasons.
I'm not really seeing the connection there....

It doesn't mean "nothing" other than it's not necessarily an indicator of who's going to win the championship. To say that a team is not a viable contender for a championship after having hte best record over an 82 game sample is both ignorant and asinine. I'm not saying that whoever has the best record is necessarily the best team in a given year (as we've seen) but you have to be a damn good team to have the best record...plain and simple.

If lebron stays with Cleveland the last year they easily would have been in the finals. And possibly won it. But shit happens, fuck lebron

I'm not sure that they would've won it had they got there. Dallas looked damn good in the postseason.

This is a tough one to predict because we don't know what the Cavs' roster would've looked like at that time. I would say it's reasonable to assume they would've at least made the finals assuming Boston still makes the Perkins trade. Whether or not they would've beaten Dallas though is a great question.

Cavs would have probably made the Conference Finals, but it is really hard to say from there. Lebron playing for the Cavs would certainly have jumbled the NBA playoff picture. To me, the matchups would have ultimately decided whether the Cavs made it to the Finals.

lol at trolldo speaking out of his ass again. All 3 of those titles that were won by the Lakers/Celtics were done when they were the #1 seed.

This. I have a feeling that they would've continued to try to bring in those magic "pieces" to get Lebron over the hump but who really knows what would've happened. Cavs had a few key injuries (Varejao for one) this year. Is it assumed this doesn't happen? Too many variables for me to predict anything.
After he quit in Boston, in hindsight, we should've known he was out the door.
