Just seen this article, but with East Canton pulling out of the Portage Trail Conference, it has scared Windham into making a move to join the Northeastern Athletic Conference, which has schools that are more suited to them... I like the move, but is a shame with Windham being in that conference a long, long time....

I know expansion of the PTC is one of the reasons Windham left.... I am sure there are teams in the Portage area who would love to jump in.... I know football wise this was a good move for Windham, and in reality, I do not think travelling will be to bad...
I know its further then they were traveling but to NAC schools is not that bad...
Footballwise....
Southington 9 miles / 14 minutes
Mathews 24 miles / 32 minutes
Grand Valley 28 miles / 37 minutes
Ledgemont 33 miles / 46 minutes
Py Valley 49 miles / 58 minutes
Other Sports....
Lordstown 15 miles / 24 minutes
Bristol 19 miles / 26 minutes
Bloomfield 24 miles / 32 minutes
Maplewood 25 miles / 33 minutes
Badger 33 miles / 45 minutes

I've heard some teams in the running to join are Barberton, Canal Fulton NW and Aquinas. Just talk at this time though.

Have heard that Newton Falls might have some interest...not sure if true or not but they would be a good fit in the County side of things. Think what will happen is the PTC will go with 14 teams for two years and see how that goes with Crossover games to fill the void in Scheduling. After that just my opinion but they will either add two teams or teams will leave and league will be one diviision instead of Metro and County.

Don't have a clue how they will do crossover games but here is a shot in the dark

Kent vs Woodridge
Ravenna vs Streetsboro
Field vs Southeast
Crestwood vs Garfield
Norton vs Rootstown
Coventry vs Waterloo
Springfield vs Mogadore

i dont know why newton falls would leave behind trumbull county lifetime rivalries to play in a portage county league?? as for windham its a better fit in football but they will leave some memories from there old league in basketball.
