Angle passed for over 2,546 yards, 26 TD's, and 5 INT's and rushed for 418 yards and 8 TD's this year. I think he was close to the 1,000 yard mark last season..but I don't remember. Could be wrong on that one.

Damn, 26/5. I don't know what Toothman's final stats were but they were damn good. He's only a junior too. If he didn't lead the team in tackles he was up there this year as well. I think he's got a good future at the next level as a LB.

Angle have any offers?

Damn..he is impressive. Haven't heard of him. Cool and collected in the pocket..can throw it through the air..or run it if needs be. Gotta love a QB that can do it all.

He's certainly fun to watch. His name will come up next year I'm sure.

Angle was one of our defensive stars as well..as well as our punter. Lol...I haven't heard anything about any offers..rumors of Ohio U. and UC..but that's just that..rumors..haven't heard anything official. Unfortunately..it's pretty common knowledge the football teams in SE Ohio are pretty much forgot about. And IMO the coaches don't do enough to get our players out there. I'm sure he'll end up going somewhere though.

Being a Mr. Football finalist in Ohio warrants a scholly from somewhere if you ask me.

You'd surely think so huh? Lol..I'm sure he'll end up somewhere..just a matter of where..I could see him getting one on defense if not QB. But hey..if you go 22-2 as a starter for your team..you have to be able to do something right I'd assume?

He'll go somewhere--guys like that always find a place, assuming he wants to play at the next level.

Regarding Warren: In '72 Warren Western Reserve HS finished the season at 12-0 and won the State Championship by crushing Cinn.Princeton. During the '73 season they beat undefeated Cardinal Mooney 6-0 in week 5 or 6. Reserve and Mooney eventually met in the Championship Game later that year, Mooney won 14-3. Both squads finished at 11-1.

Warren Harding HS won it the next year.

I was also thinking about the 04 Steubenville team, i believe that was the one that got upset by Sheridan the week after their QB got hurt and young Zach Collaros took over as a Soph. Woulda been a fun game them against Ray Williams and Benedictine that year

I was also going to say Steubenville 04 as well. If Magnone does not get injured, I think we roll to a championship and a 3-peat. D3 was not very strong that year. Benedictine did not have Ray Williams in 04 he graduated after the 03 season.

I would also add: Not sure what year it was (2001?) Troy Smith's senior year at Glenville...Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, Donte Whitner, I know there is more that I'm missing. I dont know if they played varsity, but I think this was also Jermario Oneal and Freddie Lenix's freshman year.

My votes go for 94 Stubenville (toughest hs team I ever saw in person), and 01 DeSales (like purple rein said, worst hose job in state final history).

Without a doubt. They would have worked Iggy that year.

That 1994 Steubenville team beat a star studded DeSales team in what was at the time considered a big upset at least in Columbus. I would have thought for sure that the winner of that game would go on to win states.

What about 2003 Colerain Cardinals. They lost to eventual champs Elder 24-23 in the Regional Finals. I think a miss XP was the point. If I recall Colerain had considerable more yardage in the game and dominated them everywhere but the finals core. Elder went on and waxed both Dublin Scioto and St. Ed's after that by 20 or more pts.

That Colerain team was basically the same team that beat McKinley the next year 50-7 or whatever in the final.

It may have been an upset to people in Columbus who were not aware of how good that Big Red team was, but it certainly wasn't an upset to anyone who had seen us that year. We pounded every team we played up to that game.

The week after Boardman beat Ignatius (who eventually won a state title), we totally dominated Boardman. I think we were up five touchdowns at halftime. Woodland Hills -- who was also very highly touted -- got the same treatment in Week 1.

That was one of the greatest Big Red teams of the Reno era. The real shocker that year was that West Branch was able to come back from being down 21-0 and beat us. That was one of the biggest upsets in the history of the OHSAA, as far as I'm concerned.

That Big Red team beating ANYONE, however, would not have been an upset. I thought that we were the best team in the state, any division, in 1994. That DeSales team was great, as well, and everyone in the state figured that it would decide the state title. Maybe that is what led to our second half meltdown the following week?

I was only about 7 years old and I still remember that game vividly!

Hey, if you go up 21-0 and lose then you can't say you're "missing" a championship! Especially when the team that beats you goes on to win it all. You HAVE to win that game in the playoffs!

1999 Ironton Tigers. 4th and 1 for the game. Terrible spot by the officials, Henry got that first down.
