I've always enjoyed The Doors and Jim Morrison. I like many other groups more, but they are definitely one of the greats.

literally one million times better than anything that child molesting son of a bitch named Quincy Jones, I mean Michael Jackson, ever put out.

I used to like the Doors, and then i went to college and noticed that every fucking dude in my dorm had a Jim Morrison poster on his wall, which made me start hating them, for some reason. I still get angry every time i see that damn Morrison poster. Same with the Belushi "college" poster.

I have issues, clearly.

Eh, they are better then the Eagles. Doors have a few good songs.

Nirvana is better.

Yea, I said it.

He played the tambourine. So yeah, he wasn't a musician.

Understood that a lot of people find him inspirational, but a great lyricist and poet?

Read the lyrics of "Riders on the Storm" - a monkey could have written those lyrics.

Well, he did have books of poetry published. I think after his death, but still published.

Did it contain the piece:

"There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirming like a toad"?

In his time so many young people were on acid they wouldn't know a poem from a hippopotamus. It is all legend...and pathetic baby boomer nostalgia.

It was panned pretty hard by critics. I don't think he'll ever be remembered as a good poet

You don't honestly believe that do you?

If you do....you have lost all right to ever talk about music ever again

I can think of atleast 5-6 American Bands that are better

I would bet everything I own that if you go around and ask 100 casual music fans...you would get twice as many people who know Bon Jovi over The Doors/Morrison

I just asked 8 random people here and all said "The Doors". This is ranging from older black men, to younger males and females.

Well no shit considering the last Doors album was put out what....33 years ago? Of course more of today's 'casual' music fan will know who Bon Jovi is over The Doors considering Bon Jovi is still making music today.

Websurfinbird and I got the chance to visit his grave at Pere Lachaise in Paris in 2009, very cool spot. Gotta love the Doors! Got me through many the stoned college evenings ...
