I think the population of the southern part of greater Louisville KY, must spend ten percent of their annual income on the stuff. That whole end of town sounds like the Battle of Gettysburg for the weekend. They'll pool their money, drive down to Tennessee, and come back with literally a fully loaded pickup truck.

We've probably spent the weekend of the Fourth down there about every other year for thirty years. Over that time, I've personally seen my in-laws and their neighbors set one roof on fire, trigger a grass fire that cleared off several acres of cut hay, and pack two kids off to the hospital with missing body parts and/or serious burns. A barefoot toddler stepping on or picking up a red-hot sparkler wire is more or less an annual event.

It takes a special brand of ignorance to launch industrial-strength Roman Candles upwind from a hayfield on windy night - and anyone stupid enough to give Black Cats to a six-year old shouldn't have been allowed to reproduce in the first place.

Usually catch Cedar Points display.

We'll catch them tonight at CP since they're having two shows this year, because I'll be spending the 4th in Cleveland.
