I need to get a new golf bag. Mine was on its last legs heading into this season but today the zipper on the ball compartment broke so its pretty much useless. I've put my putter through the side of it and have also bent one of the legs pretty badly with a few tomahawk chops over the years, so its probably long overdue. Anyone have any suggestions? Brand really isn't a concern and I'll probably spend north of $160 on it after what I have seen so far. The only real requirement would be that its a stand bag.

My only advice is don't ever get a white bag. It will get muddy/dirty and look like shit

Yeah I'll probably try to get something that is as close to all black that I can. Don't really want to make a fashion statement with it.

do you walk a lot or mostly ride? If you don't walk I'd get the one with the club dividers, it will pay off in the long run with all the beating a 15mph cart puts on the bag/clubs. Ogio makes very good bags no matter what you need, the have some where the woods line up along one side and it really protects the shafts from the irons.

Ride in league, split between walking and riding for other play. And yeah the 14 way bag would be nice. $200 just seems like a lot.

Do they keep shafts from banging into each other?

I'm probably better at golf than you, I just prefer to use my time playing a sport where a cart and a bag aren't an option. When I golf, I carry 4 clubs and 2 of them are putters.

Right. Again, which real sport do you play?

I've got an Ogio Grom bag. I've had it for a few seasons and I love it. It's got enough compartments and pockets on it for everything I need. Works great as a carry bag, and has a rubber strap that hooks on to the golf cart for when you want to ride. The rubber strap was the selling point for me. I had an old Ping Hoofer before this bag, and it never stayed upright on the back of a cart. The Ogio rubber strap holds the bag in place. It doesn't move.

The hinged ball compartment is real easy to use. Not really a necessity, but it looks better than traditional zipper pockets. I'd recommend the Grom, or any of the Ogio bags.

I have a Nike stand bag that's 3 years old now, but it has 14 dividers and a little cooler on the left side. Light bag too, but I would really recommend it. The handle is solid too, not a strap, but its a great bag and I golf quite a bit so it gets some wear, but has held up great. I'll try to find an example on eBay, cause it was 130 when I got it.
