To be fair, I haven't used the new one.

However, it is generally rule of thumb to not use Macs for business applications.

Yeah, probably overkill in the dollar department. They are still worth it, imo.

That said, is this being covered by the new company or out of pocket?

This is out of pocket, but the new company will be paying for 100% of my cell phone, which was part of the negotiation. I will write this off as a business expense though.

If you work for a "decent" sized company, they might have a discount deal through your employer.

Also, if you know anyone who is a student you could knock the price off even further.

Decided to go with the MacBook Pro, which I bought last night (and installed the Microsoft Office business edition). Thanks for the feedback everyone!

So you asked for advice and then disregarded what everyone told you?

Enjoy your Mac.

I think he just disregarded what you told him.

BigApple....did the new laptop come preloaded with Lion? Or do you get a discounted or free upgrade when it comes out?

Lenovo Thinkpads are junk. I use them everyday and wouldn't give a nickel for one.

Fair enough, but more than one of us told him it was a bad move.

Nope, I was actually wondering that before I bought it, but no dice.

Kept it simple, went with the 13" 2.3 GHz, basically has everything I need for my new gig. Thought about getting a 17", but it was more for novelty reasons, and not worth the extra $1,300.

You should be able to get a free download of Lion once it comes out (probably within the next week or so).

No, it would have been worth it. You now have to work everyday from a 13" screen.

I have a 17", and I can agree with this statement.

I must have been blessed with decent eyesight, because I don't have any issues with a 13" screen. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, very happy with my decision.

I have never worked on PCs or laptops with large screens, so won't be an issue at all.
