Volquez.

I think an interesting vbookie bet tonite would be will EV have more WALKS or RUNS given up in the first inning tonite.

Walks would have won 2-0. Three full counts, two of which ended up walks(one to "swing at nearly everything" Vlad), and 27 pitches(a less than 5 inning pace). But a zero in the first for EV. A decent throw by Ramon would have gotten an out stealing and saved some pitches.

Big difference in defensive catchers so far. Didn't Wieters succeed Hernandez as catcher in Baltimore, or was there someone between?

Didn't they have one of the most hyped young guys in a long time?? Or is that Wieters?

It was low, but he has to swing at it. He screwed himself by swinging at a pitch that was in his eyes.

Yes he did. There might have been someone between but Wieters is why they traded Ramon.

Terrible positioning by the home plate ump.

He was out.

Ramon played 133 games for Baltimore in 2008, and Wieters played 96 in 2009 and was the minor league player of the year in 2008, so I think Wieters was the hyped guy who allowed Baltimore to shed Ramon's pricey contract although they had to eat a lot of it to get the Reds to take him and had to take Freel too who was given too big of a contract when a GM fell in love with his hustle which his courage could be admired but his intelligence questioned.

Wieters bad baserunning cost him the out the ump didn't call. With one out he had no business trying to tag to get to 3B with 2 out if Bruce catches it. That made it nearly impossible to score if the ball isn't caught. Only the very high bounce off the wall and a bad call allowed him to score on a hit that should have been an easy two RBI.

Ump calls strikes on the first two pitches to Rolen that were inside and greatly diminished the chances he could get an RBI hit to tie the game!

LeCure in a tough spot that is really important in his first game in over a month.

Great job as he strikes out the two lefties(first one was really big against 2/2 Wieters) with runners on 2nd and 3rd, and the right hander intentionally walks the right handed batter. Seems to be backward strategy, but right handed hitters are hitting twice as high(.128 to .250) an average against LeCure this season so far!
