I know that. Let me ask you this though . Those people from that one church ,that protest at the funerals of dead soldiers.. Do you think that makes them bad Americans?

I actually don't. They are living within the bounds of the rights set forth for American citizens, and they are protesting a series of actions and positions BY the United States, and not the United States itself.

I DO, however, think it makes them bad people.

Thats fair ...Some people might think just the opposite though ...Some might say that it does make them terrible Americans,but it does'nt make them bad people.. Think about it ..... Who's the judge..They could be law abiding citizens to the core and they may practice the bible teachings more than most people,although their points of views and interpertations of the bible obviously differ from the mainstream .

I think of them in terms of being nut cases rather than a good or bad American.

The pledge being discussed, however, isn't simply a pledge to the symbol. It is also a pledge to the Republic itself.

well they sure did.

NBC didn't do it inadvertently. They didn't say anything about that in their apology, only they were sorry for offending anyone. They were hoping that they could be a contributor to get the country's populus to the point where they are not offended by that. They were wrong. They did not apologize for doing it. They just got called down for doing it.

President Obama has tried the same thing.

I do to . I think they are media grabbers . kind of like what NBC did .. They recieved some sort of attention ,albiet negitive.

What bothers me is why apologise for your stance .Id rather NBC not say anything ,or say this is our stance like it or dont like .. Why in todays world do people have to please the masses. Stick with your guns .Id atleast have respect for that . Dont come out with some half assed appology ,that people know you dont really mean anyway.

I concur with mhs95_06. The media (NBC) thought they were doing something to be the catalyst for change in this country. They do it all the time. The reason they apologized for it was because of all of the backlash. I am guessing they got people threatened them where it hurt worst-- in the pocketbook. They might have ticked off sponsors who threatened to take their ads elsewhere.

From the info that I got,which was an editorial in the local paper was that the golf channel and the other sponsers did nothing ..Said nothing about it openly which outraged this sports columnists (((.Last Sundays Herald Star from Steubenville if you want the article))) I do absolutly agree with both of you on how the networks are trying to push theyre own agenda ...My whole entire issue though is I despise censorship ... It is dangerous to be doing these things . It may soon impact our free speech right .. Not enough people see this .. Then it will impact our freedom of asembly and so on ... People do not have to agree on issues ,but they must be allowed speak . Censoring the pledge or say the national anthem ,or how bout the bible lets do that is what our country has fought against when founded. .. NBC should not have even put the pledge on the TV ,but they did and they did it on purpose which makes it all the more wrong ... I dont think that these people would like it if the government came in and edited there programing .

I have a question for those who object to having the word God in the Pledge: why does one word like that bother you so much? It's a very general reference to a power greater than ourselves, and NOT in any way, shape or form an effort to form a state religion -- or any religion, for that matter.

So why the big deal? Why not just let it go and pass it off to being part of the diversity of our country?

What will eventially happen is there will be no refrence to god on our money . You wont be allowed to use god in any public speeches ... It will then be taken out of text books in the schools .They have already taken out school prayer and the pledge of allegiance is not spoken in the classroom anymore .... We used to have the pledge at the begining of everyday. The moral fabrick of our society is being destroyed by the same laws and ideals that our four fathers put on paper ...We live in a democracy or we did but the majority of peoples views are being trampled on by a very small minority . Its perverse
