Going from Posada to Teixeira at first is a way bigger drop in defense.

YAY Dusty...so proud of you......Bray pitches to more than 1 batter! He can do it.....now I know he's only doing it because it's a DH...but I'll take it...now if he can get Cano out.......

Yankee hitters are grinders, they work at bats, see lots of pitches. They have done this for years, I remember the late 90's Indians squads did similar things. I wish the Reds could do this, but they are soft contact hitters when behind in the count.

Come on lol they haven't been more than what? 5 games out? all season...they'll be there in the end...they'll just never be one of the best teams in the league, like they were at points last season (mainly earlier in the season).

This reds team isnt anything but the girl in HS who would only rub your junk from the outside and leave ya wanting more but never actually giving it up.
This reds team is just a tease to all of us.

outside of the pants i shoulda said...but you get the picture.

Whenever I get all exciteda bout this reds team and think they may be able to do something I am brought back down to reality that they are pretenders.

Or...

Maybe they're taking the opposite approach to last year.

Last year, they came out smoking hot in the 1st half of the season. Then they tailed away. And it showed in the playoffs.

Maybe this year they are just gonna "hang around" until the end, where they will pick it up and carry that momentum into the playoffs.

Just a thought.

I wish I had your opportunistic attitude. I'm ready to give up on this team. They play with no heart, never look like they have any edge to them. It's really frustrating watching them pitch well but not hit, only to then hit but not pitch well. Votto is getting impatient at the plate. Looks really frustrated. Stubbs isn't getting it done. SS is a complete disaster. Rolen hasn't done much and needs every other day off. Lf is not producing. And baker continues to make huge mistakes. Walt needs to step up and make some big decisions.

Hell...if htey hang around to the end all they will do is give us reds fans blueballs.

You know this team isnt going to contend for anything more than a sacrificial lamb to a real contender

Until this home stand the Reds were basically about on pace with last season. They were on fire in August last year, that's when they did their damage. If they make a couple roster moves it could happen again.

2010 after June 22nd games the Reds were 39-33 and 1 game behind, 2011 after June 22 games the Reds are 39-37 and 2 games behind and 1 1/2 behind St.Louis. Seems pretty close to last year. The Reds dropped 5 of 6 before the all-star break and ere 49-41 with a 1 game lead. August was the month they were hot at 19-8 and built the lead to 7 on Aug. 31st ande were 14-16 the rest of the way keeping the lead between 5 and 8 games in September and finished 97-71.

But the Phillies pitching is far above any other team in the league so everyone else is just playing for the chance to play them in the finals.
