I kept close watch on stubhub for ticket prices to lower and was wanting to catch this game.....glad I did not because the Yanks playing a game without Arod, Teixeira or Jeter....bet that hasn't happened forever.

Surprised Phillips doesn't drop that medium liner on purpose....no doubt DP....but you gotta have it on your mind a bit.

Always thought to do this. But it is a VERY instinctual thing, and it can go horribly wrong.

In 8th grade I would ALWAYS let the ball just fall on the infield fly rule. It is amazing how many triple plays I was able to turn that way cause stupid base runner would think they had to advance. It was nice every once in awhile to act like I couldnt see it, then they really thought they needed to run.

Cervelli looked like one of the Reds refusing to go the other way.

It can go horribly wrong...but how many are better with the glove than BP? He loves heady plays that make the opponent look foolish (deeking an OF, stealing 2nd and 3rd on one play with defensive shift.

He could do it easily....that ball would have to bounce away far for the lead runner to get to 2nd as he is already going back to 1st

Im agreeing with you. I would do that stuff all the time. Just saying why he might not. Im sure it has more to do with the instinct and not being able to react that fast than it does being afraid the ball will miss the glove or go to far away.

Pretty much expected that. Was going to be Leake or Wood as Bailey just threw last night and it would match up pretty good for Homer when he could pitch next (assuming they announced bailey is coming up?). Gotta keep them as a starter going forward as apposed to putting on the BP.

Def can go horridly wrong. On the offensive side you can minimize this if it is a pop up by the hitter running hard to first. On a soft liner it is a little different. Some call doing that bush league but if the batter is doing an andruw jones impression to first base then hey...try to get the DP

Phillips could take away the runner from home hustling by throwing to 1st....runner going back to 1st would never get to 2nd

Granderson got down 0-1 and was in the batters box for 10 minutes...then got a hit in a hole that was way too big between Phillips and Votto
