Assuming that you are religious: Swearing is not a sin. Using/Invoking the name of your God in vain would be a sin.

Unless you say the word with hate behind it, or some other sin.

Saying "I'm motherfucking happy," would not be a sin in my opinion. In that case, it's just a word.

I usually don't follow me either.

What I'm trying to say is that the use of the word can be a sin.

Example:

"I hate that motherfucker." You're committing a sin by saying it in that manner. (breaking a commandment "Love thy neighbor as thyself")

"I'm so motherfucking happy." In that case, you aren't breaking any sin by using it in that manner.

I don't know why I chimed in to be honest, I don't know that I even believe. That's just what I was taught in my 18 years of church.

If you are arguing and call someone a Motherfucker, is the other person correct to state that you need to repent sins or you will go to hell for committing a sin?
did you call them a "motherfucker" or did you call them a "mofo" (the orginal military creation of the "Morning Formation" was MOFO ) but you wouldn't know that peckerhead mofo :) Sample as to how to use the work mofo

Believe it or not, the discrepancy isn't about rules.

I would contend that anyone who believes in an objective morality would also adopt the notion that people ought to act in line with that morality. That would include non-theists who believe in objective morality (and there are certainly some).

The contention is what that morality is. It's more of a "this-is-good-and-this-is-not-good" worldview. Theoretically, it could stand in a vacuum as just belief without action.

Sinful, no. Tasteless, yes.

Your surroundings are key - a locker room is a lot different than a business meeting.

Yet somebody questioning their manhood by calling them a bitch is worth getting angry over? What's the difference?

Why does it matter what others think about you?

If someone walked up to me and called me a motherfucker id pry be a little confused, laugh, then just walk away. Getting severely angry over that cant be good for your health.

I'm with you. There's not a lot in this world that would make me severely angry, or even angry for that matter. There's not a lot gained by getting angry.
