COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles says its investigation of Ohio State football players' car purchases found no evidence players received improper deals.

The agency undertook its review following allegations that two Columbus-area dealers sold vehicles to Ohio State athletes and family members at below market rates.

The BMV's 65-page report issued Tuesday said the certificates of titles for cars sold by Jack Maxton Chevrolet and Auto Direct to players and families accurately reflected the vehicles' sales prices.

Questions about players' car purchases arose in the wake of a scandal in which some players received cash and tattoos for autographs, championship rings and equipment.

Obviously, great news. Doesn't necessarily mean those deals are in the clear, however.

All I am getting is that the sale price matched what was listed on the titles.

Right, which clears up the Thad Gibson issue. Doesn't necessarily mean the sales prices were accurate, which is why I said these deals are "not in the clear."

I could be wrong here, but didn't either the NCAA or OSU say they wouldn't investigate the car thing until the BMV was finished with their look into it?

As well as there was no evidence of gifting by OSU personnel in order to get the price down.

It does not say in the report however that the cars were sold at or near market value, which will be more of what the NCAA will want to know. Were these cars sold at significantly discounted prices to OSU players and families? If they find that there was no excessive discounting, then the car issue will be cleared for good. (But I would expect you wont find any more OSU players buying cars from these people any more...just in case)

Another blow to the haters, what will they do with their lives once Ohio State starts dominating their team again?

- Loss of (almost) legendary head coach
- Inexperience and young HC for 2011 season
- Star QB forgoes SR season
- 5 other significant players with a 5 game suspension
- All this before sanctions even get handed down

I'd say the haters have plenty to be happy about. Just sayin'.

Here is the key to that article.
The report did not examine whether the prices that OSU players paid involved discounts not available to the general public, which could constitute an improper benefit under NCAA regulations. No players or Ohio State officials were interviewed.

The BMV has no jurisdiction to determine whether players received "deals" or paid fair-market prices. The report ventured no opinion on the appropriateness of the sales.
I still don't believe anything will come from the car thing.

Yet OSU is still in a much better position than Michigan..which begs the question, will UM ever be better than OSU? I mean if they can't be in a better position after all of this happening to OSU, when will they???

They'll post links showing that tatoos enhance performance on the football field.

This is how blind you guys are. I said nothing about Michigan. Sleeper laughs like nothing has happened. I am just reminding him that plenty has happened for the haters the enjoy.

I don't how you came to this conclusion. You must be one of the young pups that doesn't know OSU hasn't and won't always dominate the series. I am very happy with where Michigan is headed.

After the total cluster phuck of the RR regime -- I guess I would be too.

Kind of like a tallest midget contest. :)

I suppose you are right. I agree the RR regime was a complete fuck up. But I think Michigan got the right guy. Recruiting is going well. I think even you have to admit Michigan is in a better position than they were the last 3 years.

I think the worst for Ohio State will be the loss of scholarships. I don't think they will be banned from any bowl games.

I agree with you, but even you'll have to admit--it really doesn't take much.

I may be a "young pup" but I know that when my team has been shitty, I don't point out another team's minor setback while still remaining dominant.

I was merely making a point to sleeper. It had nothing to do with OSU/Michigan. So what is your point?

Why would they not investigate? Even if its just a token investigation, you'd think they would at least say they are looking into it.

I would assume because if the BMV determined that each sale but 1 made a profit there is nothing to investigate.
