I don't think it's ever played on Sunday when January 1 is a Sunday. Isn't the first time it's happened and won't be the last, so I don't have a problem with it.

It's nothing new.

"Traditionalists" come out out of the woodwork every 6 years when it happens to whine about this, but it's been like that for a while

Can't let the free farm system hold serve, no big deal. When they announce it will be played on December 29th then I'll blow a gasket.

Yea, this isn't anything new. Bowl Games are rarely played on Sundays because of the NFL. It'll be back to the 1st come next season.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they're looking at the possibility of playing some games/bowls on Sundays if the NFL lockout stays put.

Correct....

It has been played on the 2nd 11 times. In 61' and 62' the game was played on the 2nd marking it as the only time the Rose Bowl has been played on the 2nd in back to back years. The last time the Rose Bowl was played on the 2nd was in 95. The Rose Bowl was also played on 3rd and 4th, before the BCS added the Championship game.

Happens every time the first falls on a Sunday. All the New Year's Day games get shifted back to the second. Not a big deal. The NFL has a longstanding tradition of not playing games on Saturdays during the college football season, so it's only fair that college football wouldn't play on a Sunday during the NFL playoffs.

I like the fact that the Sugar Bowl is not played on the same night as the Rose Bowl. I like having a BCS game for four straight nights.

I heard that the BCSNG is flexible, like it could be moved up, even to that Saturday (7th).

I would like this too if it weren't for the fact that one of those nights is going to include a Big East team.

Yeah it will be good in 2012 with TCU there at least then the BE will have a team worth watching in a BCS bowl game.

I am more pissed that I have to set my alarm on New Years Day to set my fantasy football lineup after boozing the night before!
