EUGENE, Ore. --- Records indicate the vehicle Oregon All-American football player Cliff Harris was driving early Sunday morning, when he was cited for driving 118 mph, was paid for by a university employee.

The other big Yahoo! article is supposed to come out in June. It is either Oregon or Auburn. This event is unrelated and they should sent the calvary, but they won't because they are all sponsered by Nike, just like Oregon.

Before too long, the NCAA is just going to wipe out the entire 2010 season.

$300 for an Altima for a weekend? I'm going to pull an LJ here, but I rented an Impala for a weekend last fall to go to the Iowa-OSU game and it was $150, and I was under 25.

If you don't understand the connection between Oregon and Nike, then you have no business posting on this thread.

I think he means since OneBuckeye included Auburn in with the statement that they(Oregon and Auburn) won't be touched because they are sponsored by Nike then why is the calvary out for OSU?

Hopefully he knows the connection between Oregon and Nike if not then hes dumber than I thought he was.

That's what I thought. I think OB just meant Oregon. Regardless, who sponsors what school has no bearing on what the NCAA will/won't do.

I see I didn't know that about Auburn I know most of the major schools and who they are sponsored by but I never really pay too much attention to it. But I will agree with your last point even if it is Oregon/Nike the NCAA won't get a shit about that.

My post was meant to say Yahoo! will bust Auburn or Oregon soon enough.

I also said SI should send the calvary to Euguene based on this story. But they will not beacuse SI and Oregon are both sponsered by Nike. I don't think a story about Oregon getting special benefits from Phil Knight ect will look good next to an ad for Nike Zoom IIVIVIVIVIVs. Just sayin.

again... Ohio State is sponsored by Nike too. I'm not sure why we keep using that as an argument. Sure, Oregon is Nike's guinea pig, but Ohio State draws far more water to Nike than Oregon ever will. (Merchandise sales, exposure of brand, etc)

There isn't much more "exposure of brand" than Phil Knight and his 4,000 different uniform combinations for Oregon sports every year. Or how about that ugly ass basketball court? Who do you think pays for everything around there? Phil Knight. And when I think Phil Knight, I think Nike. When I think Oregon, I think Nike. When I think OSU, USC, Florida, etc. I don't think of their sponsor, I think of conference titles, national championships, etc. Oregon and Nike go hand in hand. Phil Knight has a LOT of money. If he could pay off someone to spare his school the spotlight, I dunno if he'd could or would. But like stated before, who sponsors who - who's an alumni where - who has more money - isn't going to factor in on what the NCAA does. Oregon, to me, is a one year wonder. They don't drive in the money like OSU, USC, Florida. It's kind of like a "What have you done for me lately?" type thing. What has Oregon done for College Football? Other than play in the "Scandal Bowl" this past year? And let (potentially) the biggest fraud - Cam Newton - and a dirtier program, win a National Championship?

RT @GeorgeSchroeder: Initial indications on the NCAA issue with Cliff Harris, though, are it won't affect his eligibility.

You're probably right.

This is probably the most incoherent sentence I have ever read on the OC, and perhaps the worst sentence ever constructed in the English language.

Let's clear something up.

Calvary = the name of the mountain where Jesus was crucified
Cavalry = a unit of mounted soldiers

I have no idea what is going on either. Never thought I would see the day where people claim that a program could escape punishment because Nike sponsors them

Who cares?

Until they do something about the SEC, none of these infractions matter.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/ncaa/06/15/oregon-harris-car.ap/index.html?sct=cf_t2_a3

Apparently the employee that rented the car is named Mindy Schmidling, who said that she was told another player besides Harris would be driving. She is a 'payroll specialist' in the Business Affairs Office at the U of Oregon.

Umm, he typed "should" instead of "should've", and that makes it the "worst sentence ever constructed in the English language"?

Oregon and the SEC will be forgiven by the media because they play an "exciting offense" where dumb old Ohio State plods along and plays great defense, BOOOOORING.

For the record,I love a great defensive game.

Not enough trouble to take the focus off of Ohio State. Hopefully some pictures will turn up with Nick Saban and Cam Newton and some SEC underage girls. This might take the attention away from OSU and put it on Alabama and Auburn.
