Wish the companies would announce when the phones are going to be released already. I keep reading "late July" and given my contract is expiring on 7/24 it'd be nice to know exactly WHEN in late July.

sherm any updates on Bionic? There have been some leaks saying August 4th.

One thing that does suck for you is VZW starts tiered 4G data for new customers July 7th. If you have unlimited data on Verizon before then, you will be grandfathered in to unlimited 4G as long as you stay with Verizon.

Because 4G technology is clearly the future... and why invest in something (i.e., 3G technology) that is going to be outdated in less than a year? 4G technology is RIGHT around the corner. There are places that already have it. Yes, very limited places, but places indeed. And it's going going to expand faster and faster.

From everything I have been reading, the iPhone 5 won't be releasing until LATE August (like last week of August) / mid-September (most likely).

Don't really want an iPhone. Would rather the Bionic or a Samsung Galaxy SII (Function)

And the respective release dates of each? I've been reading/hearing the iPhone 5 will be released mid-September. If so, I don't know why Apple would even be bothering with the iPhone 4S.

Because they can. I can't recall the release dates or 'predictions.' I've also read they are hoping to release a version that is compatible with pay as you go services, so Apple can tap into other countries. So maybe that is part of the reason for the iPhone 4 tweaks that come with the 4s. Then roll out the 5 possibly next summer?

No word yet. But we are starting to shift to a Tuesday-Saturday work week next week...which is usually an indication something is coming soon.

And 4G devices are also $50-$100 more expensive than 3G devices at Verizon. Not everyone cares about the extra tenth of a second they gain in web browsing by getting a 4G device. Not everyone wants to use their phone as a hotspot...and that is where 4G devices are mainly superior. There is a huge portion of the population that has no problem using a 3G device for two years in the hopes that 4G devices will be cheaper by then.

This is what I've read as well, and my understanding is that this might be what that iPhone 4S is for.


The iPhone 5 will be released this year (September) [I'd bet on it].

So they will roll out 2 new phones in September? I haven't even heard anything about a new device being called the 'iPhone 5'.....only 4s.

Regardless of what comes out, my only concern is whether it comes to Sprint or not. If not I'm probably going Droid....maybe BB Bold touch

From what I have read/seen/heard, Apple is releasing the iPhone 4S in late August... the iPhone 5 in September.

I am sure we will hear a tons of rumors about the next iPhone. The one thing that I can almost bet won't be in the specs will be LTE. AT&T won't have close to enough LTE cities lit up by then and I don't see them releasing an LTE device only on Verizon's network. Also, Apple will not put out a LTE iPhone until the battery life is acceptable (see sherm's post).

Hasn't been formally announced yet. Should be tomorrow with pre-orders starting this week.
