Jonathan Sanchez starts for the Giants. If there is ever a situation Volquez can build off his last start, in San Francisco, at night and against a banged up lineup is the best place for it.

at least Volquez will get to pitch in that mammoth ballpark. Should be able to get away with more mistakes in SF

Reds need this game to get back on track imo. 2-2 isnt bad but i think a 3-1 series win over the defending champs would really give this squad their confidence back.

The Dodgers stink too. The Reds, in-theory, should win 2 of 3 there, but they failed to do so at GABP last weekend. They will face Kershaw but he's been hit hard lately. Game 3 will be Wood/Billingsley, which didn't turn out great last Sunday either.

only 4 white guys today, Gomes does not count. Still not sure why Renteria bats 7th, has Dusty given an explanation why Ramon hits 8th?

I have no idea? Maybe he feels like Hernandez has a better chance of knocking in Renteria than vice versa.

Just my guess.

Dusty wastes the Stubbs walk by not having him run. No chance they can throw Stubbs out on a steal.

he tried at least once, don't think he's a good enough stealer to be given the sign against a lefty.

Sanchez was on the ropes, 15 pitches after Stubbs and Phillips made him work, then 2 pitches to get the DP ball.

Sanchez is slow to the plate w/ a below average move, Stubbs is good enough to run on that.
