Lincecum vs Leake




Good news....Giants offense sucks...or at least should....bad news Lincecum

The Reds will either be awesome and hit Lincecum like they have no business or he'll whiff 16.

Last night's game was so ugly/funny.....Stubbs, just flat out embarrassing watching him try to sacrifice bunt.....embarrassing. Uncoordinated pitchers can do it...but not a freak of nature......mostly a whole team of ugliness when it mattered most. Umpire was silly bad on some calls behind the plate.

I still hate Dusty taking out pitchers who are "on"......he left Wood in and it worked......started the next innings with Arrendondo.....not great, went to Bray.....looked awesome then the 3rd pitcher of the inning Ondrusek didn't have much warmup time and looked awful.....and lost the game for Arrendondo.

If you are playing for extra innings....don't start the 9th with Arrendondo! If Bray has pinpoint control.....he is unhittable and awesome against RIGHTIES as well.....if ONdrusek...well shit, it's real simple...the Reds bullpen has been notroiorus for walks of late....if you bring in 3 different pitchers in one inning you are very much increasing teh odds of finding one of those walking pitchers....which almost always gives up the winning run. Don't start the 9th with Arrendondo......he is not a one out pitcher if extra innings look probable......let Bray pitch the whole inning when he is pinpoint.

Two grounders up the middle by the last two batters of the Reds' 2nd, one had juice to get thru, and the other didn't and went for a DP. Glad the one with juice happened first for the first run of the game.

18 pitches for Leake to get thru the 2nd with a zero, and only one baserunner. Ross and Rowand didn't put the ball in play and Leake had to use up 12 pitches to strike them both out.

BP unlucky that bunt took a big bounce off the rubber plate and allowed the force out at first.

Votto singles to put the Reds in the same situation they would have been in had BP got the bunt down -- Votto would have walked bringing up Bruce with one out and the bases loaded.

Was Rolen obstinate in not calling for help right away on the pop-up? Leake always goes after those if he thinks they might have trouble - I saw him streak way over near the dugout in his last start before the infielder got there, Votto I think. I would think all Rolen would have had to have done was yell for help and Leake would have been there in a flash.

Leake only used 15 pitches to get the 5 outs he needed that inning! 45 thru 3 innings, all zeroes!

Last Saturday in the Fox game against a premium pitcher(Kershaw), the Reds were in good shape with a 5 run lead, but couldn't convert it to a win. Can they get a win today with a 3 run lead against Lincecum?
