As far as books go, I liked The Stand the best. I thought the mini-series was so-so though. I thought I heard somewhere that they were going to a movie of it again.

The best, by far, is "Shawshank Redemption", which may be my favorite movie of all-time (or at least top 5).

My guilty pleasure is "It" ... so cheesy, but strangely compelling.

I know I will get flak for this, but I think "The Shining" is very overrated. I want to like it every time its on, but for me, its ok at best. Sort of creepy I guess, maybe its been imitated too much in mainstream TV and that has tainted my view on it.

IT is one of guilty pleasures also. Cheesy but it scared the bejesus out of me pretty much for a whole summer or so. I still like to watch it.

Shawshank would be my number one. Stand By Me, Misery and The Shining all get good grades. As does Creepshow and Cats Eye. When he put short stories into movies, anthology films worked better than, say, crap like Graveyard Shift, which turned a short creepy tale into a rip-off of Alien, but with rats.

Maximum Overdrive was dumb, but campy fun. IT was a good mini-series. I haven't seen many of the others just because I've gotten used to just knowing they'll be bastardized, condensed versions of the books (like Christine and Dreamcatcher were). I do want to see The Mist sometime. I think I've said that since it got released, but just never have gotten around to it.

Shawshank is great. Christine has always been a guilty pleasure movie for me, as well as The Stand miniseries. Seems like it is on SyFy a few times a year.

The Dark Tower is going to be a miniseries. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Having read through the Dark Tower, it is an EPIC story, and I hope it translates well to the screen, but I have my doubts. I'm glad I finished it before this hits the screen.

Shawshank is the best. What other movie can spin a single word (Hope) in 2 directions with such great writing and dialogue???

bigdaddy, I hate that IT is being remade, even though the original was made-for-tv and cheesy. But there's a reason it was made for tv, because it lasted 2 hours a night for 5 nights, because it covered so much of the book. I can't see a shortened movie doing much justice. Besides, anyone other than Tim Curry as Pennywise is just moot.

The flashbacks, particularly the one with John Lennon, are difficult to watch. They were cutting edge technology for 1994, but seem forced. The conversation with Lennon makes zero sense and is just weird. The movie screams 1994.

This is how I feel mostly also although I am willing to give the theater movie a chance. I am just interested in seeing who they try to replace Tim Curry with.

Yeah, Haim's character was in a wheelchair and it was pre-crazy Gary Busey. Well crazy like we know him now. It wasn't a bad flick.
