Ha, I'd like for none of that to be true for Smith's sake. And I'm not really saying he knew of other stuff either. Was just a dumb comment to say that he was sure there were no other violations after that short of an investigation. If you are going to make that claim, you better be damn certain its right, especially when it helps keep 5 starters eligible for a BCS Bowl game. Same sort of way Ray Small was blasted for saying "everyone." When you use those absolutes, its going to come back to bite you if anything else comes to light.

I agree with this. It was just starting to look like it wouldn't be that bad when the NCAA handed out whatever penalties. Then this bomb comes out of left field and there are more things rumored to be coming out.

I definately agree. Although I think that statement is a little blown out of proportion. But that whole fiasco presser was poorly handled by all involved.

2 year ban on bowl games and 2 yr loss of up to 9 scholarships is being discussed at the highest NCAA levels according to a very qualified source. She's not sure where the #9 fits in but that is the number being tossed around at the moment. TP & Tress stepping away not really that impressive to NCAA investigators and won't impact the final judgement much. Their job is to dish out consequences to the school aimed at detering future infractions, two guilty parties walking away from the mess doesn't mean much to them.

This surprises me, but it shouldn't--whenever a clusterfuck organization with virtually no consistency like the NCAA is involved, I should assume nothing and expect anything.

At the same respective points in their careers, Miller is a smaller, less athletic version of Pryor with similar raw passing skills. Maybe he will be better, but he's going to have to develop at a much higher rate than TP to ever compare to him. Saying he'll be "much better" than a guy who went 30-4, was 3 times all-conference, and won a Rose Bowl MVP, is nothing more than speculation and likely wishful thinking.

You make some good points, with the exception of his passing skills--Miller prefers to stay in the pocket, and is a much better passer than Pryor was at this stage, but he can run when the situation dictates. IMO, he's more comparable to Troy Smith than TP.

It's obvious they're going to get some heavy penalties placed upon them. I also agree that JT and TP not being there isn't going to make a difference. The NCAA is going to use USC/OSU as examples. They don't really care about the players that didn't partiicipate; I mean, how do you think those USC players feel that did what they were supposed to do? The NCAA is going to hit 2 big time programs really hard to send a message.

Braxton miller is going to save the ohio state program eventually. but not this year. they will still be good but this is the year that braxton is going to get used to the offense and he is going to learn his place. the year to watch will be next year when he is a experienced starter. i think he will be a heismen winner before he is done and goes to the NFL. he reminded me of troy smith but with a better ability to throw and is better throwing on the run.

I'll be curious to see how well Miller stays healthy if he plays the entire season as a true frosh. He's talented, but the dude ain't exactly durable.

He hasn't even won the starting job yet and you already want to give him the heisman?

Beano Cook and Ron Powlus laugh at those expectations. :)

From the limited amount of highlights I've seen from Miller, it looks like his mechanics are way ahead of Pryor's at the same level. I saw him make several intermediate throws made that Pryor continually struggled with.

To be fair, Pryor basically was playing against JV teams. Miller played in Division 1.

I also contend that Miller is a better runner than Pryor. TP was fast in a straight line, but he wasn't elusive, and didn't run w/ power.

To be honest, a good majority of FBS QBs looked that way in high school. That 's why they are playing at the FBS level.

I disagree. Yes, Miller is more elusive, better lateral movement, to elude a rush and open up a passing lane. He reminds me of Troy Smith. In the open field, Pryor could flat out run and had a great stiff arm. He was not easy to bring down. In high school, Miller has also been injury prone. So I really doubt we will see him running near as much as Pryor. They really are different types of players. Miller looks to throw, throws a much better ball, better release and is quicker. Pryor wasnt' very good throwing, threw a poor ball, ugly release..but in open field, he as pretty damn good running the ball.

I'm taking Miller one-on-one in the open field against a safety over Pryor.

Not me, not this early. I need to see much more from Miller against D1 athletes before I can go along with that. MUCH MORE.
