This pretty much sums up the game....no joke.

F Freddy Adu, 8: Adu was by far the best American on the night. He had a big hand in both goals with strong service on the corner that set up the first and good hold-up play to help create the second. He was the only player on U.S. side who could match the Mexicans' technique.

D Jonathan Bornstein, 2: Took over for Lichaj on the left after he moved to right to replace Cherundolo. Bornstein was dreadful, failing at all his defensive tasks.

They didn't play anywhere else because you won't fit 93,000+ fans in many other places than the Rose Bowl.

I know, I know, Ohio Stadium, Happy Valley, etc. etc. etc...they won't do that. The Rose Bowl is the only venue that is THAT big and has always been used for soccer games. Maybe the "new" Meadowlands (or whatever the new NY football stadium is called), but it's not like that would've been any better of an attendance percentage.

I'd say at least 80,000 of those fans were Mexican supporters.

You could have played it at any of the available football stadiums (Baltimore, NY, etc...) and have drawn 70+ and kept a homefield advantage.

Tough loss. I was in a bar probably 50/50 US/Mexican fans. Obviously the US back line was terrible. Chicharito and Dos Santos wreaked havoc all night.

I was happy with Adu.

Sounds like a shitty bar to go to, but I guess you are in NY. I hate Mexico more than any other team ever. And we decided to suck the whole 2nd half. Our defense was swiss cheese.

Apparently they did the whole post game thing in Spanish. Tim Howard was pissed, and I agree, rightfully so. We are in freaking America, speak English. And don't hold the game in a Mexican centric area.

I have some "Messican" friends that were born and raised in America but love to root for Mexico. I was thinking about stabbing them with a corona last night. Does that make me a good racist?

It wasn't right to hold the postgame celebration in Spanish. Something should be done about that.

I still do not believe there was a better venue to hold it. Put it in a football stadium with 70,000??? Why would they do that? They are missing out on 20,000+ fans!

Ultimately, the US isn't making the final decision. It's not like it's "our" Gold Cup. It's the CONCACAF's Gold Cup. The US puts venues out there and the CONCACAF will ultimately decide what's best. It's no surprise that the largest venue, that also happens to regularly host soccer games, was chosen as the host stadium for the Final. More money coming in on these games means more money for each national federation represented.

I would like to agree with most of you here, it'd been nice to have more American fans...but when we do put games in large football stadiums in areas where that aren't "as Mexican," we don't do anything in terms of attendance. Seriously, 25,000ish for USMNT v. Canada (in Detroit)? It was pretty low in DC too but filled up in the second half because of the game after. I went to a pre-World Cup game in Cleveland back in 2006, and we set the Ohio record (at the time, and it may still stand) at around 45,000+. Tickets to the Gold Cup are relatively cheap too, couple that with you get 2 games with each ticket purchase, and it's a great deal! I wish I could've went, and almost did. But this summer has wrecked havoc on any trips like that.

Yes it does. What a joke. I like the Italian and Turkish national teams because I lived there and am 50/50 in blood, but I would never root against the U.S. if/when they have played.

Yep, same here.. Would never root for Italy or Germany over the US.

Im Lithuanian by blood....You wouldnt ever catch me cheering for them cause I am an American.

Also, cause they suck and I would only ever be able to cheer for them in qualifying stages...of which, they HAVE competed for berths in some tourneys. (need to beat Czech Republic again and Scotland, and have Scotland tie the Czechs, and Spain beat Czechs to qualify for 2014 Euros) lol.

I think they're blowing the language of the post match stuff out of proportion. It's not like they did the US part in Spanish... They dis the runner up in English and the champions in Spanish. Was there more spanish than english? Sure, they give the runners up their shit and get them out of there.

I see no problem with doing it in the language of the Champion so that they actually have a clue of what is going on. A vast majority of the CONCACAF countries speak it anyway. It may have been in the US, but no one from the US was there to watch it, and they got to see the only thing they cared about anyway (recognition of the runner up) in English.

The best thing to do would have been to do it all in both languages (basically covers everyone in the confederation other than Quebec).
