Yep. If I were the pitcher he'd be getting one in the ear hole. What a piece of shit.

Guess he was thrown at the next AB...do not know if he was hit.

and was hit the night before.

I thought how he slowly started the trot was bush league too

Pretty petty move. But it seems clear that the pitcher said something to him as he was rounding 3rd and coming home. He may have started it with the slow walk out of the box, but as a pitcher, you gotta ignore that. The blown kiss wasnt out of left field, it didnt appear.

He was brushbacked on the next at-bat, then almost put another one into the stands, missing by a couple feet. Pitchers need to ignore the slow departure from the batters box, as many players do it. The pitcher said something as Harper was rounding the bases, so Harper responded. Doesn't mean he should've done it though.

Maybe I read the article wrong....but didn't he get hit the night before in the knee and had to leave the game.....then drills a HR.

I'm not defending the kid but one of my favorite things I remember while watching a baseball game growing up was Gary Sheffield on the Padres (early 90's) he was thrown at right at his head.....he flails back in fear and falls to the ground....gets up brushes himself off, gathers himself and then his a ball 20 rows deep into the 2nd deck of old Jack Murphy Stadium...balls didn't get hit into that deck but about once a year...he put it 20 rows back....difference being he never showed up the pitcher....his words could not have been any louder and he didn't say or do anything.

You want the batter to not show you up......keep him in the park.....you want to show up the pitcher....hit him out of the park....no actions or words are needed.

That kind of move, regardless of what the pitcher said, is one that could have ended his career in the next at bat...and it would have been his fault. I know some people don't like the unwritten rules of baseball, but showing up the pitcher after a HR is just about the worst thing you could do. I'm actually surprised the next batter didn't get earholed over it. Harper is lucky that he didn't see four straight pitches in his earhole the next at bat, too. Don't worry though, now that it is national news, he will end up paying sometime down the line for that move.

if you don't like getting mocked, 2 things:

1. Don't let up the bomb.
2. Don't talk shit to someone who just hit the bomb.

This

And honestly the trot wasnt that much slower than some major league players do after they hit a HR. If I was brushe dback multiple times and pegged I probably would be trying to show the other team up too. So you got shown up, get over it(or throw a better pitch)...no need to go head hunting and possibly end somebodys career.

Bullshit. If you don't like what the pitcher has to say, be a man and visit the mound. Otherwise, keep your head down and run the damn bases. Blowing a kiss is pathetic, cowardly and frankly, a dick move toward your next batter. I can't believe the next batter didn't get a heater at his temple as retaliation for Harper's pussy move.

blowing a kiss is pathetic and cowardly?

But having someone insult you and deciding to retaliate by throwing at his head(which is what was suggested someone do) and endangering his livelyhood isnt cowardly? get the fuck out of here

And if you dont like batters showing you up...dont get the shit smashed out of your pitch and talk shit to him whiel he rounds the bases

And if you have an issue with the guy walking out of the box, throw down and dont yell at him. The other team started this. The kiss is gay and petty, but it was in comeback form.

Yep. When you show up a pitcher like that, then go sit your prima donna ass on the bench leaving your teammate to deal with the fallout, it sure as hell is.

Those are the rules that everyone lives by in the game, like it or not. You show up a pitcher running the bases after you hit a home run, expect to get earholed. If you really don't like what he said, then man up and visit the mound.

I don't disagree, but that doesn't justify Harper's little stunt either.

The pitcher did all he could to call out Harper. The unwritten rules dictate that the batter approach the mound, not the pitcher approaching the batter. Harper was obviously too scared to actually fight his own fight.

Harper's stunt was minor IMO. Talk shit, get hit. Plain and simple. Pitcher asked for it.

Your entire argument is based on unwritten rules and double standards....gtfo.

Throwing at someone's head is uncalled for, no matter what may have happened.

Not to mention he was hit the day before. If I got drilled for hitting too well, and then blasted a HR, Id do the same thing he did.

blowing a kiss at the pitcher--or anyone in pro sports-- is all bush and has prima donna written all over it. If you get dissed, just shut up and get back at them on the field/court/(whatever playing surface is relevant)

If you don't understand the unwritten rules of baseball, then you should GTFO. That is what this entire incident revolves around. Like them or not, they are what they are.

Actually, you are dead wrong. It has been a part of baseball for decades upon decades. Maybe you should follow T-ball if you don't like the realities of baseball.

Lol....it's a game for christs sake...nobody's livelihood should be purposefully at risk over a game.
