ANYTHING that could be considered "memorabilia" is kept under lock and key by the athletic department until the athlete's eligibility runs out, he quits the team, transfers or leaves early for the draft.

A copy of all car titles, for cars athletes are driving, must be given to the athletic department and must pass scrutiny.

An athlete's living quarters must pass inspection by the athletic department.

Pictures of all athletes and their tattoos are taken on a monthly basis(less often if deemed acceptable) and a receipt must be provided to the athletic department for all new tattoos.

The NCAA could make them their rules if they have any balls or a University could make them a Compliance Department's responsibility.

That won't solve all issues, but about the only thing left are the $500 handshakes and the selling of autographs on a piece of paper.....or underwear. :)

Fatso, the box is for the memorabilia!!! The NCAA says they can't sell it. The NCAA says they can't even give it away, because that person could sell it for a big profit and who knows where that money goes. They can't even LOSE it, they could advertise a big reward for it's return and miraculously it's found. Sure doesn't sound like they should even be allowed to touch the stuff, only bad things can happen.

The managers are responsible for washing the game and practice shirts/jerseys every day and cleaning the shoes. Seriously, you didn't actually believe the players did that themselves??? LOLOL

Hell they even did that for us in high school.

Why not, only plain white t-shirts will be issued and if you're issued a pair of gloves you must turn them in after every practice and game.

This is all simple stuff compared to the vast majority of the hoops the NCAA wants everyone to jump through.

It wasn't like any if this was on a technicality. They broke the most obvious rule in the book, lol

The outside pressure may be strong from boosters, but they are grown ass men and can make their own (poor) decisions.

If you think this isn't a national problem just look at the arms and legs of basketball and football players at the top schools in the country. The BIG tattoos, for BIG body parts, on BIG athletes cost upwards of $1000. Why do you suppose the general student population doesn't have BIG tattoos like the athletes? If an athlete has BIG tattoos the vast majority MUST have cheated to get them.

It's a national problem because of corrupt boosters and entitled athletes with most of your large schools (and even the small ones with big boosters). It's blatant disregard of the rule on a large scale, not ignorance to it

Check out Mount Union. The last I saw, the quarterbacks were responsible for laundering the uniforms.

For starters, I wouldn't assume that every single athlete comes from a poor family. And then I wouldn't assume that every tattoo costs upwards of $1000. And finally, I'd be interested to know how many student-athletes per year are penalized for breaking the rule. I know it isn't a large percentage, which means that the vast majority of athletes "gets it". I'm not sure why you keep whining about "the system" when it is only a handful of fucktards who can't play by the rules.

Actually I'm inclined to agree with Big Gain. Keep gold pants and rings in a safe until eligibility runs out, they declare for the draft, or they transfer. Not a bad idea at all.

This actually may be something OSU will think about. If all these little damn trinkets are going to be a hot commodity and our "young" athletes are unable to treat them in a manner commensurate with directed guidelines...then fuck 'em...you'll get your shit on the way out. You wanna act like a kindy gartener? then we'll treat your ass like one. Certainly not worthy of an NCAA look though.
