Glad they went the high school route, he's got high upside but they question if his delivery will hold up. Sounds like they might be able to sign him.

I stated yesterday that the REds are missing something. Not sure what it is, but there is just something missing that they had last year.
I think the missing piece is Johnny Gomes.
Sad to say, but high energy guy, hits the ball out of the yard. A .190 hitting Gomes is not the same guy that energizes the lineup like the guy we are seeing tonight. I really do think if Gomes gets on track the Reds offense will move like it has the last couple seasons. He is that much of a difference maker.
Ok, call me a lunatic. I like Heisey in the pinch hitting role. I don't think he is an everyday player yet, and the Reds aren't in the position to see if he will be. If they are 10 out in August, sure let Heisey play everyday.

I agree.
This lineup is scary good when Gomes is good. Right now he is bad, but I see signs of him getting better.

Cozart went 5-7 today in the doubleheader, if Edgar is out a couple more days he'll go on the DL and Cozart should get the call.

There's nothing quite like a series against the Cubs when you're struggling. They're basically like a mediocre high school team on defense.

I hear that alot from the writers and announcers for the reds, that Gomes is teh spark plug of the team.
They very well could be right as they are around the players more than anyone on here (except for Justincredible who sleeps ouside Votto's window).
Some guys just are the spark plug, some guys are just the glue to the team and that always doesnt have to be the best player.
I guess he was huge for the reds last year....I didnt get to see any games after July 17th so i dont know the full effect of Gomes.
