Any OC'ers give this a try? If so, is it worth the money? Thinking about giving it a try. I've also seen some stuff about a P90X/Insanity hybrid?

Worth the money...mega-intense. Serious cardio workout. Between P90X & Insanity (hybrids), I did 5+ rounds. Don't need it anymore though.

It's pretty legit. You will definitely get in shape from it. BR what do you do now?

A combination of Crossfit & StrongLifts5x5 (Madcow version) with virtually no cardio. I've gotten to the point where I don't need to beat the Hell out of my joints with all of that high impact cardio. The Paleo eating allows me to workout MUCH less with better results. I say this after seriously wrenching my shoulder bench pressing yesterday...LOL

Oh and, BTW...there is a new 30 day program out called Insanity: Asylum. Hear that shit makes Insanity look like a cakewalk and Insanity is a mofo.

Smart idea.
If you're a pure "cardio" type of person, Insanity is for you. I'm more of a weights guy so I did two hybrids. You will use no weights (besides bodyweight) with Insanity.

After you get decently fit you shouldn't really need these types of programs. I mean, use them if you enjoy them but it's not like they have any secrets in them. People just tend to go from fat couch sitters to buying P90x or Insanity and they start doing the workouts and eating better and think they are some miracle because they work. Well no shit, you started exercising and eating better. That's not to say they don't work or are gimmicks or anything but don't be fooled into thinking they have something special built in.

I have a friend that is doing the Paleo diet combined with crossfit training. He's been on it a month and has seen reduction in his body fat%.

Which will happen anytime you do a real workout regimine and eat better. So what I'm saying is, if you need these DVDs and such to motivate you and show you how to do workouts and such then by all means use them and feel good about it because you'll probably see results. Just don't be afraid to venture away from them after you start getting in shape because there are any number of workouts and exercises that you may enjoy just as much or more. In summation, do whatever the hell you want.

Not worth the money. I think anyone could come up with a high-cardio workout on their own. Besides, if you can't(for some reason or another), there's plenty of ways to get ideas for free.

More than worth the money, if you are looking to get in the best shape of your life and are committed. Pushes you to a whole other level of cardio and is great for your core.hoops23;791530 wrote:Any OC'ers give this a try? If so, is it worth the money? Thinking about giving it a try. Still working on completing the first week. I'm off right now to do plyo.
This thread kinda morphed from P90X to Insanity:

Did P90X for the 90 days and it worked (I know, its nothing special...but I need to follow along and have the motivation or I just wont do the workout every day).
Im trying to get into something else now, so whats the difference between Insanity and P90X?? Time-wise are they about the same? Equipment? Thanks.

Insanity workouts are generally shorter but MUCH more intense. It's pure cardio with some pushups/abs thrown in. No equipment needed...all bodyweight.

Ok, thanks. That actually sounds better for me. I cant get a set time to workout cause my schedule is always changing for work. So shorter time is better for me, im in good enough shape that the more intense stuff wont be too much of an issue after I get used to it. Is it everyday like p90?

The first 30 days the workouts are about 40 minutes. The second 30 days they are closer to 60. You do get what might be considered "rest" days during this program but it's not much rest. The first time I did the "warmup" I thought I was going to blow a lung out of my mouth and this was after 3 rounds of P90X.

Insanity was great for me. The first month is tough but then month two is like a whole different world. I personally really enjoyed it and watched my body evolve by slimming down, getting more defined, and just feeling better in general.
Right now Im on my last couple days of Insanity: Asylum and I really enjoyed this 30 day program. It did a nice job of incorporating sports performance and weights as well. From here on out I'll be making my own schedule and taking ideas from Insanity, P90X, and the Asylum to use in my future workouts.

This is also a key reason I was looking at Insanity, even though I have P90X...
With my work schedule and family schedule (it's hard scheduling around a 1 year old) I'd like something I can get right into, not worry about equipment and be done with in about an hour...

Yeah like BR said, the first month you'll be done within 40 minutes and then the second month workouts are around 50-55 minutes. No equipment either which makes life a little easier.

Thats still a lot better than the Yoga, and some other P90x stuff that was over an hour and a half.birddog23;792125 wrote:Yeah like BR said, the first month you'll be done within 40 minutes and then the second month workouts are around 50-55 minutes.
