I know its just a rumor, but I would be thrilled with that hire. Gruden would instantly become one of the top recruiters in college football. If anyone has watched the Gruden QB Camp series, he is excellent in communicating with college level players. Plus, with his NFL and MNF background, he would garner attention nationwide. And throw on top of that his success as a head coach in the NFL and his Ohio ties. He would be a home run hire.

That article is weird. I wouldn't even call it a rumor. It's a statement the author made.

Would be an interesting hire though. I wonder if he is truly interested.

To really clean up the situation, I think OSU has to go out and get someone with no current ties to the Buckeyes. Fickell was an assistant for something like 9 years? Even if he knew nothing about what was going on; which I don't beleive, the suspicion level would be very high just because he worked under JT. I still think OSU will eventually get rid of the AD. They need to show to the NCAA that they are making a clean break, taking steps on their own to correct a problem.
A HC with not ties to the current regime is what the Buckeyes need. I don't know if Gruden would take the job, but I think his name would go a long way in showing to the NCAA that OSU is serious about cleaning up the program.

IMO, there is no way, no how, that Jon Gruden takes this job (or any college job, for that matter)--he's an NFL guy who would go crazy trying to follow all the rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, practice restrictions, etc.
That being said, even though I don't necessarily agree that OSU would have to sever ALL ties with the current staff, but if they chose to go that route, I'd like to see them go after Bo Pelini--and go after him very aggressively $$$
