I'm not saying that Chris Heisey should play everyday or that he is an all-star waiting to happen.....but I am shit full of the Reds speaking brass keep mentioning his batting average as a starter....."He's right at .200 as a starter".....well first off it's nothing tremendous but it is .224 in 58 AB as a starter...early in the season he had a short stretch where he started 3 games in a row...hits in each start.....but other than that until May 19th he RARELY started...wonder if that had anything to do with his production? Since may 19th he has managed 6 starts and while he's not Ted Williams..he does have a hit in every start of the 6.....including a 7 game hitting streak in his last 7 starts. Secondly......it's a ridiculously small sample size and that has been Welsh's catch phrase the past 3 seasons......why doesn't he defend him on that?....Instead he takes him down .024.......he defends other Reds....why not add .024 to his starting batting average to make it .248. The Reds announcers are notorious for picking a player or so and rave about them madly all the time about every opportunity.....and there are others they have trouble praising.....has Heisey slept with all the wives? Is he a prick?

Again....I feel Heisey and Lewis should pretty much split time unless one gets very hot.....but it seems Heisey doesn't get much love.

CB Bucknor at 3B is as bad an umpire on balls and strikes as he is behind the plate!

And the home plate umpire blows the 3rd strike call and lets Freeman walk!

Ball was 4 inches off the plate. Reds get out of the inning on a lucky hop.

I hope Dusty picks up on that and starts Heisey in CF tommorow. Lowe strikes out right handed hitters at 3 times the rate as he does lefties, so he needs both lefty OFs in the game tomorrow.

Yeah, Stubbs needs a day off to clear his head. Tomorrow is a good day for him to sit.

Game got moved from 1:30 to 7 by Fox. What are the odds we get stuck with Phillies/Mets or Cardinals/Rockies?

Had a softball game tonight, so missed the whole game.

Glad to see the Reds get the W. Let's hope it continues and they can build up some momentum before they come back to GABP.

Not suck when he starts?

Bottom line is he isn't very good when he starts the game. When he pinch hits or comes in on a double switch he does well. Why can't he just be a very good bench player? That's pretty much all he is.

About Heisey...he very well could be only a bench player as mr unincredible stated.

He is 26 I do believe. I think Mr Baker needs to tell Heisey that he is starting, and will be given alot of time to grow into the position. It can be very hard for a bench guy to get a spot start and when he feels that he has to get 3-4 hits for the manager to start him the next day it puts alot of extra strain on the player.

I would like Baker to tell him, "Ok, Hizizzle Heisey, I am gonna give you starting playing time for at least 3 weeks and see how it goes. You can get the golden sombrero and I will still run you out that next day"

I think the REds need to see what he can do everyday.

True but Lewis and Gomes have not been great either when they start, yet they do not get penalized. Heisey has one 1/4 game when he starts and then gets benched. Hard to get in a rhythm.

Heisey has been pretty productive in his limited PT
