If you are going to talk about someone's mom, expect something in return. Plain and simple. People that get angry over a word are vaginas. Fag is only offensive if you let it be.

I certainly do not get "angry" over that word and I actually have been known to call people that word from time to time. However, when you are a NBA player... on tv... and you direct it at a fan, that's definitely a no-no. The league is obviously going to levy some sort of punishment. It's just something you cannot say.

But I'm with wildcats, saying it to a fan should be considered 100x worse than directing it at an official. Fans are paying customers. Refs get called much worse throughout the entire game

I understand the company aspect of it, but if someone calls out your mom, the natural reaction is to defend her. IMO, it's 50K well spent.

Really? You think that fan went home and cried himself to sleep because Noah insulted him? Although the 50K is pocket change, Noah is still being punished and his reputation/image will take the hit. Noah SHOULD have taken the anger out on the court and been a difference maker, setting his team up to win. That's how you silence the fans, or at least get the last laugh anyways.
It's kind of like how people make fun of Charlie Villuneuva(sp?) but rather than doing anything about it, his team sucks and he just bitches afterwards.
