I thought that you should not have your heels touch no matter how you run or what shoes you are wearing. Heels are for walking.

sprinting- run on your toes, heels arent supposed to touch at all. distance- more of a land partially on your heel and roll forward to push off with your toes, i believe.

Depending on the shoes. You are definitely not supposed to heel strike when running barefoot or minimalist. You will get hurt.

The heel strike wasn't my intent in that I believe it happened running sprints on the treadmill. I'm flat footed to begin with and was concentrating on trying to run on the balls of my feet. My assumption is that the plantar issue is from this. All I know is with the ice, ibuprofen, orthotic inserts, etc it still feels like holy Hades.

I ordered a pair of shoes yesterday (July 4th) around 6:00pm from zappos.com, and they shipped it the same day, and I'll have them today.

Chose standard shipping and it is still essentially 1 day shipping.

I'm impressed.

the anonymous commander wrote. “Anyway, I have had some Five Fingers for over a year, and I love them. They reduce shin splints, work your calves better, toughen your feet, and reduced my five mile run average by five minutes in three months.”

...and so the army bans them....SMH

I think (not 100% sure) that they ship from Louisville where UPS has it's largest air hub. Zappo is one of their biggest accounts and I think everything gets shipped air.

The package did originate in Louisville, but they were working on a holiday, and upgraded my shipping to next-day air for free.

It wouldn't surprise me if they next-day aired everything to Ohio. Sometimes its cheaper for them to do that then it is to just ship it ground.

Have given the Vibrams another shot and so far, so good, as far as the plantar issue. I wear them to work and for everyday activities (haven't done any sprints though).

Wanted an extra pair so I picked up these bad boys (Skeletoes) this afternoon. Got them for $50 and they are very comfortable. Only difference, IMO, between these and the Vibrams is that the "pinkie" and "ring" toe are merged versus separated...

Bought a pair of under armour shoes to work out in probably 6 months ago and they have been good for lifting, running, any type of physical activity.

I want to get me a pair of those comfortable looking moccasin things to wear around the house. Have been looking at Finish Line/Foot Locker whenever im out for another pair of casual shoes too because my jordans are starting to fall apart but havent found anything I like. any suggestions?

Go somewhere ghetto, like Payless. The cheaper the better.

The quality is definitely a little lacking in the FILA's however, that may be justifiable for some for the price savings.

Have no issue with the quality of these shoes but I'm not a shoe snob (not implying that you are). They are quite functional and I actually find them considerably more comfortable than the Vibrams. Trained heavy squats/leg press in them this morning with no issue. Have no plans in running in them but I stopped doing sprints anyhow so it won't be an issue.

To each his own I guess. The FILAs have always felt stiff to me but that's great if you like them. I do a lot of running though so I guess that's why that might be a problem for me and not one with you since you mostly lift/walk in them.

Not sure where you live but the new one in Monroe is better. I live about 40mins from Jeffersonville and 20 from Monroe so I go to both several times a year. Monroe seems to get more stuff in.

Don't wear them for the look...wear them for their functionality (mimic barefoot walking). If I wanted "style" I'd be one of those fools who drops $150 on Air Jordans.
